Egg Nappers!

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 4:09 am

Edit: There's lots of contradicting and not a lot of lore about Argonians, but if you factor in living environment, lore and physical attributes, they dont come off as very Reptilian.

I suppose the scales and gills are common traits of mammals. They live in a swamp, swamps are good places for eggs as you can get nice decomposing plant matter for insulation.

So what I'm seeing from posts by people designing the series is that sometimes Argonians lay eggs and sometimes they don't, dependent on morphology and climate and various other factors. Remember, too, that multiple Argonians in multiple titles have made reference to eggs and hatching, and that some Argonians do not have briasts, and that the variations in their body types may very well exceed that of the Khajiit.

Also, Argonians are not reptiles. They have qualities of mammals and fish as well, and their relationship with the Hist is such that some may very well have other features. I wouldn't be surprised to find feathered Argonians somewhere in the Black Marsh.

I bow you your logic and agree with it. I wouldnt be suprised either and it would be pretty epic.

I prefer to have a life.

I edited my post after you edited yours and I do have a life. It doesnt take a long time to read in game books, nor do you have to sacrifice a life for it.

They come from trees, not reptiles. Know the lore. Reptiles do not have gills either.

I never said you didn't have a life. I do read books and stuff in the game sometimes. Actually I love reading in general (one of the reasons I loved morrowind - text dialogue. Soo much more info) but I'm not going to sit there and learn the reproductive habits of imaginary races in my spare time, especially when someone else can and then just tell me.

Edit: There's lots of contradicting and not a lot of lore about Argonians, but if you factor in living environment, lore and physical attributes, they dont come off as very Reptilian. Why would an Argonian have mammary glands, how could they survive in a place like Skyrim? Lots of question that make argonians seem very different from a typical Reptile.

The hist helps them adapt and evolve as well, I mean they are called The People of the Root after all.

Actually, there is a single argonian in bloodmoon that complains about the cold. I don't believe Argonians can survive in Skyrim naked. They'll probably have heavy fur clothing or something.

I prefer to have a life.

It's not that hard to get to know the history in tes. I had a lot of fun spending a half hour in the Vivec library. Did you know that the bosmer EAT their prey? Good stuff! :read:

OT: Since Argonians come from trees and Pete said himself that they don't lay eggs, then I'll have to agree with the former.

You mean Basks-In-Sun? I always found his name, and account rather strange since everything points to Argonians being warm blooded or at least able to raise their temps without the need of the sun, they may not be truly endothermic, but I dont think they are cold blooded.

^Yeah, that guy. Them being reptilian (to some extent, they are lizard people) I assumed that they are cold blooded.

This may be a bit far fetched, but could it be possible that agronians are cousins to the bosmer?

Yes I did know that lol and I do read stuff in the lore, the lore is one of the things that define TES as such a unique game series but I don't spend all my time learning every fact about TES lore nor do I intend to, I simply have better things to do.

The bosmer are actually supposedly closely related to the khajiit aren't they?

No, the beast races were in Tamriel before any of the races of Mer. Topal the Explorer/Pilot accounts this. Ideologically it is said that he taught them the tongues of Mer, although this could be a biased account. The Hist though is the oldest living entity on Tamriel, other than micro organisms etc.

I haven't been reading about the kajiit or Argonian. I do know that the Bretons and Altmer are somehow related, possibly when man and mer were one?? (Huge guessing here!) Also the orcs were elves once or something.
I want more books in Skyrim! More knowledge. :P

For the people who are saying "Oh they don't lay eggs!" there was a discussion like this before where someone explained it to me: Ovoviviparity means that the embryo/fetus develops inside the mother until it is ready to hatch meaning, there are indeed Argonian eggs, they just don't stay like that for long.
