I could have used this earlier Lady! Still congratulations getting this out, translators are suprisingly scarce for some reason, Tecra's can no longer be downloaded, then there's only the other french one which I had to use- the old Oblivion Translator I believe.

Thanks for working on this and releasing it! I hope someone will put it to good use soon, especially with The Order being released this week as well....

Hey... that gives me an idea! I can use this to translate stuff like Adash: City of Magic and that other huge quest mod that's only available in German (yeah, I know... I can't recall the name :P). I have an English degree and have done editing/translation work for some folks here on the forums, so a tool like this would be invaluable.

I have to say that I love your work Lady Li, it never ceases to astound me, your birds of Paradise are especially beautiful. They look like the real thing practically. Make for a very subtle yet beautiful addition to things. Again great work and thank you for such wonderful things.

WalkerInShadows, if you are able to translate those two mods you will be a hero in the Elder Scrolls community. Those are the two quest mods I am most anxious to play. If only I knew German :(

That would be marvelous... this tool piqued my interest, but I'm really not certain what exactly it does :P What I love about really great foreign mods is that we Americans never hear about them until they've nearly been released in their native tongues, which means the first we hear of them is when they're in a completely playable (if, to me, unintelligible :P) state. All that's left is a translation! For example, today is the first time I'd EVER heard of Adash, and it's finished. I love quest mods. Love 'em.

Thank you for your very nice feedback, it's motivating. But please don't forget many of my works are realized with very competent participants. :)

>>>Update!

- The EggTranslator is now updated to version 1.5.0.1. and compatible with Wrye Bash.

>Suggestion:

- With a wrong character set selection the esp can be damaged by saving it. So always create a backup first. For western languages 1252 Latin 1 is needed.

The "other mod" I was thinking of was "The Other Spheres: Prelude" which is already available in English. I never downloaded it due to (apparently unpatched) conflicts with Open Cities.

I'm going to DL Adash tonight and take a crack at it. Unfortunately, since it's fully voiced, I won't be able to do anything with that - the English version will either have to be unvoiced, or simply have the people speaking in German with English subtitles. :(

Ah yes, TOS:P is already in English. I thought you were talking about The Order, which is another huge German questmod that only came out a couple days ago. As far as the voice acting goes, I personally have no problem with hearing German voices with English subtitles. And if anyone absolutely hates it, they can always just delete the voice BSA and have silent dialogue. But thank you soo much for trying to translate that mod :)

Lady Li: I'm currently trying this on a smaller German mod, Deathtrap Dungeon. It looks really good and was highly rated, and I figured it would be a good test of the software.

I ran into a slight problem, though: If I choose a record and the "Google" button, it only translates the first sentence (and that's all in caps). I'll download the newest version, but in the meantime, is there something I'm missing?

Edit (a couple hours later): I just finished the translation. Egg Translator, for some reason, didn't give me the same results as the online Google translator (and I actually ended up just copying the text into the online one . Sometimes I had to consult a second online translator to get the full gist of what I was reading, but that's not really a fault of your program - it's a limitation of translators in general. Overall, it's very handy, once I got the hang of it - it enabled me to find the altered records a lot more easily than I could have on my own, which saved a lot of time and let me avoid missing records.

For some reason, I was having trouble with the find and replace function - either it would tell me there were no instances found (when I knew there were some), or it would replace only one instance of the word or phrase.

Requests: Can you make it so that users can close the mod list without closing the entire program? I don't like having that extra window open, especially when I'm doing other things (like having three internet windows open at the same time). Really, I don't see any use for it - the Open function does the same thing, and while I could just use "Full Translation", I'd have to go over every record anyway to make sure they're grammatically correct and make sense.

Oh, another question: What is "draatz"? None of the translators I tried knew what it meant, even when I tried variations. I have a feeling it's a mispelling... it appears in the name of an item: "Draatz Schwert". It might be a proper name, but wouldn't that be "Schwert de Draatz"?

Right, this is a proper noun. You could say "Schwert des Draatz" or "Draatzs Schwert" if its a sword of a person (or creature) named Draatz. Second version is not very elegant because of "zs".

Aha. Thanks.

BTW, I started working on Adash this morning... I've figured out some of the functions simply through experimentation but a detailed reame would be really nice. I discovered that Find and Replace (not Search and Replace) does work, kind of - some of the terms were replaced, but others weren't, for some reason. I was going through the factions, specifically; Adash has four different mage guilds/groups, each with 15 or so different ranks (they're all the same for each guild) - I tried to use find and replace so I could just do one guild and be done with it. It worked on things like "furst magiere", but not "lehring". I'm not sure why. I also got it to replaced "meister" with "master", but not "meisterdieb" with "master thief".

I forgot to mention this before, but I really like the log file. I intend to ask the Adash team if they can check my translations and see if they're accurate, and this will help immensely.

Will it translate books in the game?

Having translated one simple mod from German to English I found the most problematic part was the book (which was a simple book too). In fact three different online translators offered three different translations. And that mean some editing and combining even after that. I can only imagine what a nightmare that might be for dialogues with decision trees.

Hey Lady Li: I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or something got bugged, but 1.5.0.3 doesn't let me use the Google auto-translate option anymore. I hit "Translate all" and it copied the original text into the translated text window for all the entries I hadn't done yet.

Will it translate books in the game?

Yes. There's a section for Books, but it only lists the titles in the data table; you have to hit the "additional content" button to get the text, which you can then translate (and preview too - really cool feature!)

Yeah, I know. :( I just finished the first book for Adash last night, and it took me something like an hour and a half (it was a good-sized book). I use Google Translator and Babelfish; Google does a pretty good job, but sometimes Babelfish will catch things that Google doesn't, or translates them more clearly. I love Google's "suggest a better translation" feature, though - it means their programs are always getting better.

Dialogues aren't bad, though; each topic is listed with its subtopics (answers), so you can get a good feel for what's supposed to be going on. I've had a few instances where I translated one section of dialogue, though, and I had to go back and do a previous section because I realized I'd gotten it wrong. It's kind of like a puzzle, or a word game, and I love those.

Hey, it's me again. :D Yeah, more problems. I've run into something odd, which is probably my fault - when I open the file to do some work, I notice that the "original text" and "translated text" have changed places in the tables. For example, I have the spell "Ignis' Beiruf" as Translated Text and "Ignis' Call" as Original Text. I think it's because I merged the saved file into the plugin - I'm confused about the three different save functions I've got: Save, Save As..., and Save Project. I think I should be using Save Project until I'm completely done, as this is a temp file, right? And then I should use Save to merge all the changes into the original esp?

Edit: Never mind, I figured it out: I should be loading the project, not the esp, every time I want to work on it. That's why the changes keep reverting - I keep using the wrong save, and I always load the esp. Yay me. :sadvaultboy:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I have a feeling it's a problem with the mod, not the program, but this means I can't translate anything in that tree (thankfully, though, there are only two topics).
