Hmm I don't want to sound bratty when I say this. It's been so long in the making, and as a modder I know how you can very easily loose interest of one mod. The thing is, if it's picked up again, what's to stop the interest being lost again too? I say release it as a resource and, then if you're still interested in making it as you envisioned it, release an update with whatever you envisioned.

On that, if you're still bent on finishing it, I'd offer to lend a hand - for whatever it is you're after (Interior? Dialouge?). I just loved the screenies of the mod when I first saw them I still really want to play around with them!

Well, releasing it as a resource (at least my stuff) is kind of pointless, since half of it is SolidWorks models that I doubt anyone else can do anything with. And the stuff that is converted to max is... difficult... at best to deal with. I've been working at my snail's pace to fix those as well as optimize some of the SolidWorks models that I've converted to max. However, you're offer of help is extremely appreciated. At the moment I'm working on getting some of the interiors to a point where they can be mapped and textured. Which basically means I'm rebuilding them in max. If you want to play with the interiors at that point, you're more than welcome. I know some of my models have been mapped and textured by others in the community, but I have never received any files from those who have worked on them, with the exception of a few from Redguard_Slayer and Phijama a loooong time ago. So I'm basically thinking that those are back to square one until I actually receive files.

Hi Oriphier. Don't worry too much about the lack of an update. I understand the whole roofing thing. I redid my rather large shed roof last May, in a leg cast. Fun, fun, fun. As a matter of fact, anyone who looks through my past posts can see a pattern of one remodel project after another since I bought this house. Its my major excuse for my snail's pace. That, and I'm really lazy. But I do hope to have at least one level that is ready for mapping and texturing by the end of the weekend. So maybe that's something I'll pass along to Oriphier to look at before I try mapping and unwrapping it and texturing it. I still say there should be an easier way to do that. Talk about inefficient processes. I like the idea of clicking a button and VIOLA!, its mapped and unwrapped.

And before someone says "Hey, I think I've seen parts of that on DeviantArt", yes, you would be correct. All I did was put a bunch of things I've found in various places together and draw it in AutoCAD because... well, I was bored. And I liked some of the original drawings. Of course, I took some liberties and added a bunch of other things, so some of its original. Its also waaaaay beyond my meager Max skills. But someone else could feel free....

Agreed. I was kind of sad to see it go the way of the dodo. But I am trying to minimize the polycount and finish my weapon designs with a little assistance and a lot of patience from AOF. :hehe: Maybe I'll eventually redo some of the architectural pieces as well.

I don't know who all the contributors were to this (which was one of many coordination problems), but I do have a test cell loaded with stuff that Rogue_Shadow sent to me before going MIA. Maybe that could be released in some way or form as a resource. I'm just not sure how to give credit where its due since I have no idea who to credit. Any suggestions?

When Rogue Shadow and myself first came up with the idea of Eldanorcara, we approached VA, Starboi, AOF, Alienslof, Nuclear Dope (to name but a few). As far as I'm aware, all contributed in some way at least when the mod was in its infancy.

I think VA eventually requested his stuff be removed from the mod. I'm not sure if any of it is in the test cell or not. Oh, and since you just announced to everyone here that this was partially your concept, you get to write the readme.

Rogue made me do it, I swear! I just made things and talked about big trees with dark roots. I know nothing.

If you're lucky, texture prefix's will help identify the creator although Rogue did have a habit of renaming things with niftexture.

I think, I have been around on this forum for a long time, but this project is older than me, and the only thing I know about it is some oldtimer posting a what's-the-progress post every six month with the response, that nothing is going on right now but eventually...
But I have never seen a description of this project, other than it's something with a light shop and a dark shop, and I have never seen an indication about how far development has gone. So is it really something stonedead, which should be ignored, or are thre any potential with this, and in that case what?
I really feel left out, every time I read in this thread.

The concept was originally of a light and dark shop based in a huge tree. The branches and canopy housing the light, the roots and underwellings housing the dark.

Eldanorcara was conceived on the back of the relative success of Death's Doorstep or more specifically Death's Doorsteps Add on. Death's Doorstep was a simple shop with overbalanced weapons. The add on developed the idea into a dark, quest strewn mod which housed a shop hosted by Death.

Eldanorcara was to build on this in a similar way. The idea (hopefully not seeming anol) was to draw together 'popular' modders from the community at the time to work collaboratively in creating a 'super mod' - destined to be released at Christmas, though we never actually identified the year.....hence the jibes about christamas!

Folk came and went, including myself and the mods impetus ebbed and flowed but was never truly dropped. Where it is now is beyond me, SkinJack probably knows more but what I can say is that a lot of content was produced.

I admit to releasing some of my models under a different guise that was initially destined for the mod as did others, partly due to Eldanorcara appearing to flag. There is still a huge amount of content that is unique. A lot of people put a lot of time into the mod, it should at least be released as a resource for others to play with. But that is just my view!

Just browsing some threads and came across some screenshots that I think were from this mod so I decided to vote.

Some of these new items could be put to really good use as resources in some other modder's WIP at the moment.

Yeah, at the moment I don't have any time to play with this, as I got laid off in March. Kind of a funny statement, actually. You would think I'd have more time than ever. But the search for work has to come first, and I've found that the jobs just aren't out there in my line of work at the moment. The few I have found have had over 500 applicants and haven't been specific to my field in mechanical design. Its usually civil or architectural. Kinda svcks, actually.

However, I believe I have made open blanket statements in the past that I can send any or all of these models to anyone who really wants to play with them. Most, if not all, are converted to 3D Max and some have been optimized/poly reduced. Others haven't. Others I may actually have a uvmap for, I just can't guarantee its a good one because I just learned how to do it. Rather poorly, I might add. So I guess I'll make the offer again. Anyone who wants one or more of the models, just pm me. If I haven't poly reduced it, I might be able to find some time to do so. But I probably don't have time to do any more uv mapping at the moment, although I really should try to do one every so often so I don't forget how to do it again.

As for Eldanorcara, I think it is pretty much dead, especially since I have no time to play with it now and any of those who have shown interest in working on it in the past have moved on. Some of the materials may wind up used elsewhere in the future. I'd hate to see all the work in it go to waste. I do believe I have an Eldanorcara "mod" (actually a test cell, I believe), that was passed on to me from Rogue_Shadow. The problem is no one seems to know everyone who contributed, so its hard to release it and give credit due. Maybe I'll have to look it up and post a list of all the files in it. Then whoever recognizes their work can give a yea or nay and I'll upload all the yea stuff somewhere as a resource.

posting a list would be really helpful, then we could at least work on the permissions. We can put the mod detectives on it :gun:

I recognise most of the modders in the Eldanorcara files (based on their prefixes in their textures/meshes). If I have time, I could post a list of who I recognise (after I dig up the archived files that I have ATM)...

Maybe I'll check that and download them all to include with this as well. Some of these are easily identifiable, like that over talented slacker Phijama....

This does not include any of my weapon or building models to my knowledge, unless Rogue_Shadow did something with them and renamed them. Only a couple of them were ever "completed" to be used in game, and they were mapped and textured by Redguard_Slayer. I still have those, so they will be released eventually in some form or another, even though they are rather high poly.

Yay, progress?

Eh, not really. Just trying to identify the work of the early contributors to set this up as a resource release. So anybody who recognizes any modder prefixes or the files, feel free to help identify them. That way we can contact the creator to see if he/she wants to let them be released in a resource pack. I don't think any of mine will be included in the release. Or maybe just the ones Redguard_Slayer textured for me. The others I hope to someday get back to on my own or with some help. We'll see.
