Elder McNamara's mission to Nellis

Hello Everyone. Was hoping I could get some insight and opinions on a question I have - when you read it it'll probably seem to be something I should be able to answer myself, but the truth is it's been a while since I've played, and my New Vegas save states were wiped out relatively recently with a hard drive issue, so I think it might be simpler to just ask than try to re-grind the content. Any answers will be much appreciated.

Mission Code: KH-792
Temporary Password: And to dare to do it
Summary: Paladin Raseleanne, you and and escort are to investigate the military base to the northeast for components we need. We’ve had reports that the current occupants are fiercely territorial, but it's highly unlikely they have any weapons that can seriously threaten someone in full power armor. The threat level is considered minimal.
McNamara

I'm trying to figure out the route that these Paladins would have traveled. Ignoring the fast-travel mechanics of the game and assuming they would have to travel primarily by foot, what do you think is the most logical way to get from Hidden Valley to Nellis for a Brotherhood of Steel patrol trying (most likely) to avoid much attention?

Additionally would love to get a refresher with this route on anything in particular they might have encountered - important landmarks, towns, factions, etc. And totally open to opinions on how "long" a trip like this might have taken in non-game time.

Thanks in advance for all help.

They probably would have traveled at night and gone from Hidden Valley to the BOS Safehouse then they most likely would have just climbed over the tunnel instead of going through it. And wouldn't this go in the FNV general discussion?
