Elder Scroll V: Skyrim release day.

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 6:22 pm

I think that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim should have a huge opening on the 11-11-11. Much like Halo Reach in that they had a huge Spartan painted on a building, Bethesda could possibly arrange to have Dragonborn to be painted on a building. I think that Skyrim is very highly looked forward to in Britain and I believe it deserves such a opening. On the day, Game and other stores that sell it should decorate the shop to make it look like Skyrim, to make people more excited about the amazing game that will be sold. I am so looking forward to it and for any one who hasn't seen the trailer.

Honestly, I could care less what the store looks like. I'm just walking in, picking up my copy, and walking out.

Why not hype it up, this is one of those few games that actually lives up to the hype if not beyond.

Oh go on, hype it a bit more. :)

I think they'll probably do some events like this. It's not going to become like a new holiday or something, though.

I don't want to hype it up to much because it's more than 200 days away till it's out, I was just suggesting the idea. It deserves it, The Elder Scrolls is an amazing game series and needs more credit to be honest.

Yeah he sized the text up and recolored it so it won't be seen on most mobile devices.

Thank you. I was wondering why there was a big blank space and then further down was a link to the trailer.

I think it would be cool to see a Dragonborn mural on a tall building in my city but I doubt it. Rockstar did that in NYC for GTAIV. I don't think my local Gamestop will decorate the store either. They never do besides some posters and stuff. I'm certain they will have a midnight launch though and I'll be there! Soon as a CE is announced I'm pre-ordering. I don't expect a CE announcement until after E3 maybe late summer/early fall.

For some reason, I wish to eat OP's liver.
Anyway.
Yeah, that would be cool
I think that game like Skyrim deserves a grand opening. :)

Rockstar should have had something more realistic for GTAIV. Like gotten a bunch of eastern Europe criminals to go on a crime spree in NYC.

Can Bethesda do something like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1dS90Vk6jM&feature=fvsr

It highlights dragons, will make all of the forumites think levitation is back, and show off the brutal combat.

Hype:

This is a well studied psychological process. First, mythify it as though it will be the next best thing after sliced bread. Then, when your expectations are inevitably not met, feel disgusted, badmouth it amongst your friends and complain how the world is filled with greedy software companies whose eyes are set but on one's wallet. I've been down that road myself.

It's just a game. Not going to cure cancer.

Not such a bad idea, I really enjoy release days. I still remember CoD 4 and GTA IV. Just waiting to finish school and head downtown to the nearest gamestore. I always walk home(40min walk), thinking about the game, waiting to get home.

To be honest i enjoy the last week before release almost as much as acctual game. A little more hype doesnt hurt, unless the game is just as disapointing as Modern Warefare 2.

I don't give a you know what about pictures on buildings, since I'll almost certainly have pre-downloaded my digital copy and be ready to click the button to play it at the exact minute when it is released - while you are waiting in a queue and looking at the splashy advertisemants and planning your journey home, I will be creating my first character :whistling:

As little as it would bother me if there was no huge advertising with Skyrim, I do enjoy seeing it. I love seeing huge cut-outs at stores - I don't know why but I'm a svcker for any kind of extra marketing that goes into game releases.

But regardless, 11-11-11 is going to be a damn good day. Picking up my copy at midnight plus a pizza, snacks, and drinks and making an event out of it with my friends. :celebration:

But queueing in anticipation is half the fun and adds to the excitement!

I can not wait till launch day, waiting at whichever store comes with the best Collectors Edition goodies to pick up my copy. I couldn't care what is going on around me at the time in terms of promotional release stuffs, I will be tunnel visioning the store shaking with anticipation. The last time I felt like this about a game was when Oblivion was released! It's nice to feel this way about a game again =]
