Elder Scrolls on UK Big Brother

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:58 pm

First post here, but thought it was worth registering to post as there seems to be very little recognition of this funny and frankly bizarre broadcasting of a discussion of the Sword of Umbra between two housemates. It was completely out of the blue and had no links to the rest of the show. I think one of the producers must be a fan and left it in as a joke!

Online gaming... <_< The narrator probably thought they were talking about WoW.

Darnit people, it's not the Sword of Umbra! The sword came first, not the person. It's just Umbra!

Lol, whatever happened to attention [censored]s and soap bubbles.

The times they are a-changin'

(I'd probably have a similar discussion)

I'm not surprised that people would (of course) react angrily to this video for the dumbest reasons.

By the way, I commented on the vid. ;)

What I wouldn't give for TES discussions on US Big Brother. We're stuck with a house full of people who do nothing but lie around in silence. Spawning a horde of assorted Daedra inside the house couldn't liven up those people. >:/

Sword of Umbra... I always knew they picked the, how to put it, less than intelligent ones on that show...

To be fair, it's hard to fault the narrator for not knowing that Umbra is NOT from an online game, considering that not everyone in existence knows a lot about video games, has played an Elder Scrolls game, or even knows of the series, naturally, not everyone is intimately familiar with it either.

It's certainly not the kind of discussion I'd expect to hear on the show, though. Then again, why not? There are probably lots of more unlikely things they could have discussed too, and the Elder Scrolls isn't really an obscure series only a small niche of the gaming market knows about.

It would have been really surprising if they were talking about CHIM.

Thanks for posting this. It made me laugh, but the question has to be asked, why on earth were you watching big brother in the first place? If you're into that kind of thing you should get over to my street because the neighbour has just painted his fence and you can watch it dry with the added bonus of the complete absence of shouty witch, Davina McCall.

And hilarious if one of them zero-summed.

Unless I'm imagining things I'm pretty sure The Infernal City either implies or outright states that Umbra is named after it's first owner and since every owner has also called themselves Umbra that makes Umbra the sword of Umbra (perhaps "Sword of Redundant Naming" might have been a better name...).
