Yes, it's worth your time, but you might not like it. Did you like Morrowind?

Personally, I didn't like it very much. I tried playing for several hours but overall it seemed too much grinding to get on with the main quest. You have to be a certain level to advance in it and to get to that level you have to do randomly generated quests in randomly generated dungeons, there is no exterior exploring either because its all randomly generated terrain. On the plus side you can buy cool houses, ships, tonnes of factions to gain rep with, multiple endings and real consequences for your choices.

Loved Morrowind, way better than Oblivion.

Is Elderscrolls Adventures: Redgaurd free, and worth it?

If you liked Morrowind better than Oblivion that much betters the chance of you liking. I say give it a try.

If you like a nice and short dungeon crawl it sure is worth playing.

And by nice and short I mean punishing and long.

But it's really a very good game. If you can make it past the sometimes brutal difficulty you'll find an unending amount of things to occupy your time.

If that's the only thing holding you back I might suggest getting a cheat program for it.

Daggerfall is worth your time. The dungeons are long and challenging and it has the best Main Quest of all the Elder Scrolls IMO. Daggerfall also has the best character creation and you can climb walls and bash locks with your weapons or fists for realism.

Not free (bought mine off Amazon for $40, came in pristine shape, everything but the box), but IMO definitely worth it. Bit of a pain in the ass to get running on a modern-day computer, though.

I downloaded TES II, but without a manual it's kind of tough figuring out how to do anything.

The graphics are pretty bad, though I'd bet I'd be ecstatic with them 15 years ago.

Both Redguard and Daggerfall are worth it (for completely different reasons). Redguard is actually quite easy to get running, provided you have a modified version of DOSBox that includes the 3Dfx wrapper (there's a couple of CVS binaries that do). It's a very good action/adventure game (obviously nothing like any of the other TES games).

Daggerfall is great, though it's still incredibly buggy. You don't really need a manual if you follow the tutorial, it'll explain to you how to do most things. You can avoid the grinding entirely if you pick your class skills carefully (pick only skills that you will be using a lot). I actually finished the main line at level 18 with almost zero grinding and doing only a few faction quests. The dungeons are massive, but some of the main line ones are really good. Speaking of the main line it's got one of the best and most complex storylines I've seen in a game. Many quests have multiple ways of solving them, usually with a very different outcome/reward depending on what you do.
