I think it's a dated engine, just like the engine used in Valve games.
Unless of course, they re-write the fundamentals so that it bears no resemblance to the persistent features that it has demonstrated all these years...
Maybe, but by optimising an engine one can achieve great results. I mean let's face, what is an engine all about?
- Texture size
- Image Quality (bumpmapping, pixel shader, etc...)
- Viewing distance
- Scripting
- AI
- Animation
- Physics
- maybe speedtree support (depends on designing)
All the above can be modified in ANY ENGINE. So, there is no good or bad engine... the result is what counts.
@all the disbelievers: How come on bethblog is told "Engine is brand new and it is spectacular", and you even find a way around this statement and tell that you are not confident they use Gamebryo. Maybe it is Gamebryo maybe it is not, but when it is spectacular it is all good, ain't it?
