Elder scrolls GOTY edition

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:00 am

Hello all,
I just purchased Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY edition and installed both Disc one and Disc two, what i am wondering now, is there a way to play Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansion seperately or are they played thru the main game as add-ons to the main game?

Wecome to Cyrodiil! http://www.uesp.net/w/images/images.new/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

They'll be part of the main gameplay. After 24 hours in-game, you should get a message about a "strange doorway," and you'll start hearing rumours about Anvil.

You can also just visit Anvil or swim into the lake east of Bravil, the notices are just let you know there's something worth looking into.

Characters are only saved in a save file. You can have hundreds if save files, each with a different char.

To delete a save file, shift click it in the save\load menu.

Hey All,
I have a small prob, I'm in the Outlaw Caves and when i go out the wooden door that is located the pit where two bandits are for some reason when i go through the door the screen goes dark and i've tried using a torch but for some reason even that doesn't show up, all that shows up is the heads up display Etc, is this a known bug or is there something wrong with the game disc itself? :banghead:

Endless black is the area outside a cell....imagine a cave as a box.
Doors in the side of the box take your char to another box far away.

Occaisionally, if the coding has a bug, the door opens but the char is not whisked away, leaving you to wander around in blackness. :(

Not familiar with cave in question, make sure you have latest patch, otherwise it could be a mod interfering.
Or a genuine bug. :(

Definitley, oblivion has its share of annoying bugs, and not all mods are freindly with your game.

I found the answer to one of the questions that brought me to the forums. I clicked into this topic because I have the GOTY edition as well.
Oh, and thank you to the person(s) that answered the question regarding the access to the shivering isles expansion from the GOTY edition. I was wondering for quite awhile how I was suppose to get into SI, now I know.

Apparently I am playing version 1.0.228 vanilla from the PC CD. Now I would like to understand how to obtain and install the "official" patch or patches and what the consequences might be on the character or game that I have already been playing for many hours. So I will be off to search some other topics on that subject.

I got my patch from here: http://elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm

I think that's the official site.

Indeed it is official.

I would hate to find out now that it's an unsolicited fraud site... having had it as my start screen in the browser for years and everything...

Hey all,
I'm working on the mysterious door in Niben Bay and i'm still somewhat new to the game & have run into a snag, after i sat down to talk to the guy at the desk
the game just up and froze on me and I had to shut it down, i'm not really sure what patch i'll need or if i even need one at all since there are so many
of them to choose from, also is there any way i can figure out what version i'm running as in (1.0.0.199 for an example) not game of the year edition or
the single main game).....any help Will be appreciated?

Just reload a save. Sometimes this happens here. Or even more maddening, sometimes you sit in the chair, and cannot get out of said chair.

Did your controls and everything actually freeze up? Once you sit down, don't forget to engage dialogue with Haskill again.

Isn't GotY edition already patched up to date, not needing further patching?

I also have the GOTY edition and would have expected it to have the latest patch but the version number on the main screen is 1.0.228.

Huh. Well, anyone that doesn't have v1.2.0416 will want the Shivering Isles v1.2.0416 patch IF they have Shivering Isles installed. For anyone who doesn't have SI installed, they only need the Oblivoin v1.2.0416 patch.

Not yet. I want to play through the original game first before loading the expansions.

You can start the expansions at any time. And the latest patch gets installed with Shivering Isles.

When he told you to summon Haskill, the spell to do so was added to your spell list. Summon him twice, then talk to Sheogorath. Then summon him about twelve more times to get several humorous lines of dialogue from him.

Hey Vyper,
Thanks for the Info, i'll see if that spell was added, but i think i looked at my inventory when it was supposed to added and didn't see it or maybe i just passed it up by accident.

Found the summon Haskill spell, here i found that i was looking for it in the wrong place lol.
