Alright, let me just say, I LOVE J-RPGs. They often have much more inspired characters, dramatic plot lines that make me feel emotionally invested, and I am a svcker for turn based battles.
However, if I heard they were making a J-RPG version of the elder scrolls games, I would expect it to be terrible. There are only a few ways they could make it work, and the odds of it working are almost nonexistant.
First of all, it would have to be sort of like redguard and battle spire, in the fact that its not a full elder scrolls game, merely a game that takes place in the elder scrolls universe. Second, lorewise, it would probably have to be like Arena, in that its more high fantasy.
Example of Arena:
<> Selene's web: Selene is a powerful evil witch who threatens the wood elves in Arena. She is known as the mistress of spiders, and hosts a large array of undead and of course spiders at her disposal. But she has one weakness. Her very soul is incased in a large diamond, called the heart of Selene. The protagonist is tasked with delving into the heart of Selene's web to retrieve this artifact so that he may learn the location of the Eldenroot, which is Nirn's first tree. From this tree, the first forests of tamriel blossomed in the ancient era.
Now you don't get this sort of allure in Oblivion and Morrowind, but THIS [censored] WORKS IN J-RPGS!
If it were a J-RPG:
The suddenly anime-ish protagonist receeds into sleep, where once again, he is visited by the beautiful Ria Silmane. Unlike her previous visitations, her spirit appears distressed. "I would congratulate you on retrieving the second piece of the Staff of Chaos, but dire portents have I seen. The third piece of the Staff lies somewhere in the Elden Grove, ancient home of the Elves. The Elden Grove is said to be the birthplace of the sacred First Tree, that which gave life to all the forests on the continent of Tamriel. Its location has been a closely guarded secret, so guarded in fact that many believe that even the Elves have forgotten its true location. Considering that there are only three provinces that hold any of the Elven people, your search should not be too difficult. Find the Elden Grove and recover the third piece of the Staff. I wish you well on your quest..." The campfire crackles as the protagonist shifts out of sleep to see two of his party members still conversing. The Breton Healer, Paige, (Who has been with him since the start of the journey. Potentially a romantic interest) and a wood elf named Covan Nightvale, a former bandit who was initially introduced as an antagonist employed by Jagar Tharn to retrieve the first piece of the staff of Chaos that the group retrieved. Having been wronged by Jagar himself later as they began their search for the Labyrinthia in Skyrim, Covan decided to lend his services to the protagonist with hopes of evening the score. With the acceptation of the over trusting Paige, the rest of the party is still skeptical of his presence. However, the protagonist decides to discuss his dream with the two. And Covan, seeing this as a chance to prove himself, announces that they should begin their search in Valenwood. He is familiar with the lore of his homeland, however, not the location. So the party cautiously makes their way through Tamriel, doing their best to avoid the imperial province where Jagar Tharn's influence is strongest and they would be bound to run into a lot of his minions.
Finally, after a side story here, a quest there, and some compelling story arc involving the escalating drama between untrusting Kane, the nord warrior, and Covan, in which it ends with Covan eventually saving Kane's life, the party arrives to the city of Eldenwood with a newfound respect for the former bandit. But things are not all that great in Covan's home city. Faces are grim with angst and there is an air of uncertainty. The group finds audience with the beautiful Wood Elven queen, Ulandra, who informs them of the situation at hand. Valenwood has no standing military. And a new powerful sorceress has given them a threat, trying to intimidate Valenwood into surrender. She decides to reveal the location of the Elden Grove to the party, but only after they had compromised the sorceress's heart. For with her life force in Queen Ulandra's care, she would not dare make a move against the city of Valenwood. And so the party agrees, and the location of Selena's web is inscribed upon their map.
The party begins their descent into the dungeon, though Jagar Tharn had caught word of their success in getting the second piece of the staff of chaos. The protagonist has proved himself a slightly greater threat to the false emperor than he thought. Though Jagar is not quite ready to admit that the protagonist is worthy of a death by his hand, he does take in account for the protagonist's growing strength. He this time decides to higher another group of formidable assassins. These ones are known for their unfathomable cruelty and bloodlust. In the cutscene, it portrays the false emperor with his face veiled behind the shadow of his hood while he consults the three assassins discussing the target, and the two pieces of the staff he desires them to take from his bleeding corpse. Clearly the player knows that these three are going to be an upcoming boss fight. But the action shifts back to the task at hand. Spiders after spiders, and a few undead here and there, the group comes upon the mid bosses of the dungeon. A pair of hardened nord barbarians guard a crystal key necessary for opening the chamber in which the heart of Selena. After a fierce battle with these hard hitting foes, and Paige running out of mana several times over just trying to keep the party alive, the barbarians fall, and the key is in their possession. They backtrack back to the door, and enter the chamber where they find the heart of Selena guarded by the dark sorceress herself. Insert cool cutscene here, and boss battle.
The group is defeated in this part. The sorceress is just too strong as long as that crystal is in her possession. But in this next cutscene, they are rescued by a dark elvin Nightblade who comes out of invisibility and snags the crystal. The battle begins anew, with this new mysterious dunmer supporting them with a few of fireballs and back stabs on the weakened Selena. And once she is defeated, the Dunmer reveals herself Nephiah T'rizaron. The group gets the hell out of Selena's web before she has a chance to recover for a desperate counter attack to get her heart back. And along the way back, Nephiah reveals that she is a thieves' guild associate sent by a thief that the protagonist befriended earlier in the game. After much consideration, and some hard evidence of Jagar's plot, the theives guild has made it their business to send one of their best to help the protagonist in his quest. However, contrasting the sweet Breton healer, this new character behaves violently toward the protagonist, not fully trusting his ability, while over confident in her own.
The group arrives back to the queen, presents her Selena's heart, plot happens, and the location of the Elden Grove is revealed. After the party has had a chance to rest and heal up, restock on mana potions and stuff, they make their way out there, only to be cut off by... Thats right, those three assassins revealed earlier. The group has a fight with them, killing off two, and accidentally lets the last one escape. A bad move on their part. Cause this one eventually becomes a deadly rival to the protagonist. With a personal vendetta, the assassin at a later point in the story will separate the protagonist from his trusted party and attempt to beat him in single combat.
