Elder Scrolls Mod Lore Intergration

Post » Sat May 10, 2014 5:29 am

Simple question, should Bethesda acknowledge certain mods in the lore? As in, the famous ones and lore-friendly ones? Lands like Wyrmstooth and Luftahraan, stuff like Helgen Reborn. That airship wrenckage was suppodely a tribute to the airship mods of previous games. I know that just saying some mods are canon is a bad idea, but mentioning some mods which would work well in the lore, perhaps as easter eggs would be a nice tribute to these awesome mods. For example, having a book talking about the events of Luftahraan or a Nord saying that he is from Lutfahraan and explaining where that is. Nothing major. Also, should they do this, which mods should, or could, they actually intergreate into the lore? Which ones could actually work? Something like, Winterhold was rebuilt.

Well, I heard Kvatch was rebuilt after the Oblivion Crisis - and lo and behold, we had a mod which did that. May just be coincidental, though.

I'm brand new to this forum. So please excuse me if I'm off topic, I'm just getting started. Is there any news on Elder Scrolls VI ( Not ESO )?

We have a thread dedicated exactly to that. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1499423-tes-vi-location-and-setting-speculation-4/

No news as of yet, sadly.

No. I think Bethesda should retain total control of their own lore. It's their baby. They should continue to make and change the lore themselves.

That said, it is pretty clear that Bethesda pays close attention to mods. Changes made by popular mods are often incorporated into the next game. I have always thought of modding as a handy way of telling Bethesda what we like and what we don't like about their games. As far as I'm able to tell, Bethesda pays far more attention to the ways in which modders change their games than to what we say about a game in forums. If you want to draw Bethesda's attention to a problem, mod it. Actions speak louder than words, in this case.

Yeah, I think Oblivion had some dual-wielding mods which caused dual-wielding to appear in Skyrim.

Let's hope that since locational damage mods were made for both Oblivion and Skyrim that it would appear in the next game.

Yes, they should really pay attention to the mods, see what they got wrong and how it was improved by the talented mod-making comunity. Helgen being rebuilt, that would not suprise me. Having a Blade in the next game say something like "Our forces came from Helgen, the headquarters of the ressistance against the Thalmor."

I see some influence of Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul in Skyrim. The enemy levelling system and Amazons=Foresworn to name two examples. I've noticed other things but seem to have forgotten them at the moment.

I agree. I'm sure Bethesda pays close attention to mods and player input. Wouldn't be smart if they didn't. And we all know they are highly intelligent. They created a gaming masterpiece with Skyrim in my humble opinion.
