Elder Scrolls Movie

I know that this has been discussed many times, and you disagreed because Elder Scrolls is an rpg, but what if they made the movie about "Infernal City"?
What do you think?

I believe I made my point clear. Does anyone here know the Ayleid word for "no"?

Edit: Does anyone else see a problem with the long "no" I posted? That's not supposed to happen, is it?

Whilst your well thought out arguments of "NOOOOOOOOOOO" bring up many valid points, please elaborate further

Not sure if I'd be for or against a movie, just wanna hear all these strong objections people seem to have

Definitely NOT the Infernal City, but I would like to see something done with all the lore developed over the last 16 years. Having said that I remain apprehensive because of "game to movie" failures over the last 8 years. Great games being pimped to what seems the lowest common denominator.

It can be done, it can be good, and would be gold.

A movie or series of movies set in the Elder Scrolls universe might be okay, but it would have to be an original story designed to take advantage of the film format. But I'll vote no because even if such a movie were to made, it would likely be pretty bad.

Gonna have to say "I don't know", because, it COULD work. But only from the right cinematographer/director/writer.
It could go something like..starting out getting caught by the imperial legion and sent on a boat..and then you wake up next to a very life like avatar-ish blue man named Jiub. :P And then go through the story of bewilderment and not knowing who/what you are, and then maybe flashbacks to red mountain and neravar/dagoth ur and then you quest through the lands and meet vivec and defy all odds and eventually TEH PWN UR.
But, highly unlikely.

in some of the previous versions of this thread I said that:
althought we all love TES I don't think it is popular enough to get a good director or budget. It would be yet another poorly made video games movie. LOTR was in theatres the first time this came up and I think I said something along the lines of "at best it would seem like a LOTR rip-off, at worst, a D&D rip off"
My suggestion was and remains that they should do tv series along the lines of Hercules or Xena (without the camp of course). Have a weekly adventure that deals with a quest or develops the characters. Since TES doesn't have any character development they can't just use characters from the game and expect us to 'get' them- they would have to build them up in the show. You can't always do that in a movie. Like the game, the series could plod along with the MQ in the background until a big 2 hour finale or something. THere are lots of good fantasy shows out there these days. If they have to put TES on the screen, I vote the small screen.

An Elder Scrolls movie would be a horribly clich?d travesty to the series. Stick to games and the occasional book, thanks.

No.

Although I would be curious enough to go see the movie, I doubt that it would live up to my expectations. I would rather save myself the money and the disappointment.

I would probably not like a TES movie no matter what. From what i have heard about the Infernal City, i am not even sure i would like the novel. I definitely dont like that they change something in a novel instead of the games. I would rather see something from the past as a novel or a graphic novel... but i dont wanna see a movie at all.

But, why not? it's not a game based movie, it's a book based movie, "Infernal City", and with a good director, it can be a great movie....

I think not for Infernal City. It could work, sure, but adaptations are always risky. However, a movie of, say, The Real Barenziah, Mystery of Talara, King Edward, Bone, Palla, and MAYBE Redguard (big maybe) would probably be more fruitful, if not considered canon the same way IC is.

That's just the problem. Try and find a production staff that can take the genre seriously.

Flops: Dungeons And Dragons, Doom, Silent Hill. I think they tried doing something with Halo as well, but it escapes me at the moment. Oh, and how can I forget, Hitman.

Not game based, but damn fine attempts: Chronicles of Narnia, LOTR.

Chose no - Bethesda designed the Elder Scrolls games so each player could havea different experience - their world is a just a backdrop for you to go and make your own story up in

I'd rather effort and money was put into more regular updates to the gaming franchise

I say hell no. But it could be done, but people nowadays just want big explosions and addness in games. It would fail only because of this. They would either be underfunded, or a complete disregard of what it could have and should have been.

Voted No.

Cause i am very disillusioned with any efforts to convert any game to a movie. It will never work.

I just don't want gamesas to invest a lot of money into a film to see it flop and because of it,
they decide to cancel the Elder Scrolls series and declare bankrupt.

No. Please don't ever make an Elder Scrolls film. There are too much risks involved.

No. TES is all about making your own stories, not watching someone else's.
