Elder Scrolls Music (theme) A MUST!

just curious what makes you think they will have specific towns music? Did they have that luxury in Morrowind(I've never played Morrowind)
I really hope they do, I feel like whenever a town has it's own music, it gives the town it's own personal feel that you can't get any other way.

I'm actually wondering whether or no they will be recycling any music from the previous games.

They probably wont recycle music because the they're creating a different tone with this game. As for specific music in towns, Oblivion actually did this! (Morrowind recycled the same scores no matter where you went)

When you entered a town you'd hear a song you could only hear if you were in bruma, imperial city, anvil etc...

I'm hoping Bethesda takes it to another level and associates songs with individual cities. (Oblivion shared the same pool of city music)

Am I the only one not satisfied with how Bethesda handles music ingame? The music should be used to highlight moments in the story (like it is done in a movie, cartoon, or how it was done in the trailer). I think Bioware has done a much better job than Bethesda over the years. Dragon Age: Origins has one the best uses in music soundtrack for that purpose, though I prefer Neverwinter Nights music, which was also made by Jeremy Soule. I think one of the major turn offs for me in Bethesda games is how the music is handled (not the music itself), along with an incredibly dull way of presenting the story and the characters.

Hmm, it's possible that because Bioware uses a lot of cutscenes they have more control over when music kicks in. As in, it's more scripted. I think the TES games have like 2 cutscenes (an intro and ending) so since they're world's AI kind of takes care of itself and the world is so open, once you get going in the game, I think it's more difficult to cue music in. They have to have sort of generic types of music for certain situations - the start of a battle, the end of a battle, entering a town, entering a tavern, exploring the wilderness, exploring a dungeon, exploring a cave/cavern, etc. Maybe in Skyrim they'll be able to control this even more.

I do agree with you, the music itself is beautiful but if I payed too much attention to it as the game progressed, it did start to feel a bit repetitive.

I like the fact that it's called "Sons of Skyrim".

I can name a few moments where they could have kicked in some special music in the MQ (SPOILERS AHEAD):
1-)The death of the emperor, while fighting those cultists
2-)Entering in Cloud Ruler temple for the first time
3-)Fighting your way through Kvatch, particulary when the Legion join you to fight in the undercroft
4-)When sneaking in the Mythic Dawn Cult (a music during Markan discourse, if any at all, and another music when you steal the book and have to run)
5-)Finding that armor in Sancre Tor, when you meat the ghost
6-)When the blades make that shallow ceremony recognizing Martin as Emperor
7-)The battle of Bruma (one of the most frustrating moments for me)
8-) The Big Gate
9-) When the Imperial City is attacked

BTW, I am quite sure Neverwinter Nights didn't have many cutscenes. It was actually very similar to Oblivion in that sense, but turn-based.

All good points indeed. Who knows why the did it the way they did in past games. I'm not a dev so I don't know but there was probably some reason. Here's to hoping that Skyrim will have cued, epic music in certain important scenarios in the game.
