Elder Scrolls NOT for SOLO

Post » Mon Mar 17, 2014 4:16 pm

Well I have never rage quit any other game in my life apart from Fifa 14 .... and now this. Why ? Because I find it ridiculous. Every other Online mmo ive played ive played Solo because that's what I like to do and have reached capped level. This I find so frustrating and so difficult to do. Don't get me wrong I don't want a game so easy its silly , but this, come on. Kill 6 mobs and your lucky if you get 4 gold, then repeat the process a couple more times and gain 12 gold lol. But by now all your item durability has gone so low so quick and costs 100`s to repair. Also trying to complete a Lvl 8 mission at Lvl 10 should be a breeze , not so on this game . Rage Quit lol. Hey, don't get me wrong Im loving the experience and with all new online games theres bugs as there is with this one and theres a lot. They will get ironed out and this will be a cool game, I will buy this but im not sure whether PC or PS4. Hopefully the drops will be sorted and if I find another Piece of Pork in somebodys drawer next to there bed im going to scream. That's my rant over.

On the contrary I find it best solo'd. Grouping is a huge issue right now.

I solo'd pretty much all the way to level 21 and didn't have a problem, and I was under-leveled to most quest by 1 or 2 levels each time.

What class were you and did you treat it like a standard MMO?

Learning to block, dodge, and make tactical retreats to allow some regen should be top of ur priority.

You see him doing a charge attack? instead of interrupting it, turn away and regen, if it's dodgeable and not targeted.

Don't spam everything at once...

I've done all with all classes and different builds, i've yet to have encountered something unsolo'able....

I've leveled 2 characters through questing up through level 10 before sitting in Cyrodiil. I soloed the whole time. Sure I died some, but repair costs were never bad. I had one spot I was stuck at level 7 fighting a couple level 9's and couldn't leave the area and died about 8 times before I got it lol. The highest repair bill I've seen was only about 180 gold which is made up on a quest or 2 easily.

My character I made on AD this weekend I went through skipping some quests. I ended up doing levels 7-10 on quests all at least 2 or 3 levels above me and for the most part had no issues. in fact at times it was kind of sad how I was always at least 2 levels below things and seeing them die and nearly had full health.

I say work on your build a little more or figure out what's not being done right if anything. When they have their red sparkles make sure you use your interrupt and then power attack. When they have the white sparkles block the attack and counter to stun them again. Watch for the marks showing they're doing some sort of aoe and dodge it cause typically those really hurt as well.

I'm going to agree with User Error on this one....read up on some builds and alter what you are doing. The game is not difficult solo....I honestly think it could be MUCH harder (and wish it was). I like dependency on groups, one of the many reasons I play MMO's but I know its not why everyone else does :)

Best Wishes!

On a side note....what class/race were you playing?

Don't be discouraged. This weekend was my second beta. I remembered my last beta weekend, I died more than this time round. I believe that the combat mechanic need time to get used to. Also some of the mobs and dungeons are meant more for groups, but that doesn't mean that you cannot come back and solo them at later levels, the increased levels will make the combat much better.

I think it will help you if you are still interested in the game to tell us the class and skills you picked.

Finally I feel the more you play the more you will get used to the combat mechanic.

I thought this thread was going to be on a completely different issue.

I've been finding ESO way too easy because of the sheer number of players running around along side you. Most of the time you don't even have to lift your weapon, the PvE zerg has done all the killing for you. Sure this will get better over time, but I'm dreading the launch, hopefully early access will help somewhat, bout I doubt it.

I honestly expected dungeons to be instanced like in GW2. Instead you enter and there is already a horde of players progressing through. You're lucky to get 3-4 kills yourself... It honestly felt like all these others players were invading my game. Killed the immersion and my solo experience.

Your topic is also bit off - This is not a Elder Scrolls game but Elder Scrolls MMO game, but you already knew that.. ;)

Neither am I. I think the OP must be referring to the group dungeons. Now, they are an issue for a single character but justly so.

No reason to take your ball and go home.

This game really is super easy. The monsters are easy: A couple of skills and a dodge or an interrupt and cake. Doesn't take but a few seconds top get anyplace due to all the teleports. Inventory might be annoying, but again, teleport and sell or bank stuff. I'm not sure I've ever played an easier MMO except for maybe GW2.

* Note, I didn't get past level 15 on the toons I played in beta, so it's possible it gets harder.

I've had no issue with soloing so far, with the exception of my Sword and Board Templar - it was utterly frustrating. Every other class, weapon combination I played was a lot of fun - especially my NB.

I never repaired my gear and I got at least 4 toons over 15, no problems. If your not dodging, blocking, interrupting you are doing it wrong. If you have a bar full of mana or stamina attacks and burn through your resource at the start of the fight, you are doing it wrong. Stop being bad?

Anybody else find it funny that the boss he is talking about has been nerfed quite heavily, yet it is still too hard? I think some people won't be happy till hard things just become stand in place and face roll.

@the OP

Just finished up banking all my stuff on this last beta, and have to say i gotta disagree. Solo is actually the way to go imo until the PvP stuff gets hammered out. And frankly, i couldn't care less if the PvP tanks. I love PvE in an MMO myself.

Made it from 1-15 with a very late start on Friday. All from solo.

@this--v

After the initial crush, i think the difficulty of solo will raise up some. When ppl start settling in to their grooves, the starter areas are gonna depopulate nice i think.

It's much cheaper to make your own new set of armor instead of repairing old armor. All you need is some jute, rawhide scraps or iron ore, depending on whether you need light, medium or heavy armor.

Its taking me a while to learn to both move and attack using the keyboard hand, but its slowly coming to me. My hand just wants to rest on the 1234 keys but it needs to rest on wasd.

I didn't have enough difficulty soloing to put me at my wit's end.

Sure there are mobs that will totally murder you because they are grouped together and you are under leveled but theres always a few that are by themselves. When it comes to fighting bosses that are too strong for you, you can almost always find more quests to do and come back to that quest later when you're more powerful. Or you can wait at the respawn for a player who has also died and ask for some brief help. Some particular bosses actually retain the damage you do to them as well and that wasn't always the case so i'm really greatful and happy for that addition.

For those who say MMOs shouldn't be played solo or that dungeons should be grouped, they're forgetting or not caring about the point of the game. The story within the game is about the player and the player alone. The NPCs don't say "You and all your chosen one friends need to go to this dungeon". They say "You need to go to this dungeon".

I'm all for the game being fully playable by both solo players and those who like to group. There's no reason for any of the game to be closed off to solo players though.

If there are instances for dungeons in this game (I haven't seen any while playing Beta), there's no reason they should only be completed by groups. As a programmer, it isn't difficult to set up a script that detects the player's level, whether the player is solo or in a group, and set the # of mobs and the levels of those mobs based on the player's level. If independent developers can produce $5 Steam games to have those type of scripts, surely any MMO developer could do the same. So those in groups and those playing solo can all be happy.

And playing a game solo in a MMO is not the same as playing an offline game. Solo players in MMO want to have the choice to interact with other players, but not fully depend on them or have others fully depend on them. And the Elder Scrolls Online is a separate game itself with a new storyline which isn't available offline for ESO fans. I had a great time playing Beta as an Imperial Templar (for the most part it was easy to solo with a sword/shield, two-handed sword, and my spells).

As a MMO player I know that 5 man dungeons and even raid bosses can be killed solo. No need for any programmer to change a thing..
