Elder Scrolls VI obvious?

Post » Sun Nov 27, 2011 4:00 pm

Hey all,

Just finished the imperial story line and I don't know if any of you agree but it's blatantly setting up the next elder scrolls for an Imperial VS Thalmor battle.

I fail at remembering names but a few key characters towards the end of the imperial storyline made it obvious that the real battle ahead was with the Thalmor. As far as I'm concerned this would mean that the next game will take place in the Summerset Isle.

Thoughts?

Yes, it's very likely that the Thalmor will play a central role in the near future of the series. However, I don't think this means ES6 has to take place in Summerset Isle. In any case, I do think we'll see some kind of interaction with the Thalmor in an expansion pack/DLC for Skyrim. I was really disappointed with how small a role they played in the original game.

I would also appreciate that as a DLC. I love the political intrigue of two great empires locking horns. So little is really known about the Thalmor...

I guess. Btw, the Thalmor changed the name to Alinor.

Anyway, that's okay with me I suppose...I'd much rather go and slaughter every single Argonian in existance, though.

Yeah I heard that, but since I'm a fan of the Imperials I figure I don't owe them that title. It's the Summerset Isle's to me!

ALSO! I Play an Argonian...

Well it also depends on which Faction Bethesda chooses to officially win the civil war in the lore. I personally hope they choose the Stormcloaks to make things more interesting plus well...y'know, nords ftw and all that. :P

I was thinking more along the lines of Hammerfell, sense the Thalmor have yet to take it.

Nah, the Thalmor storyline will most likely be wrapped in a DLC or (hopefully) and expansion pack, similar to what Tribunal was for Morrowind. Elder Scrolls isn't the type of series where one game purposefully sets up the next one.

Yeah the Imperials do seem the be the underdogs played out by Bethesda this time..... If so not sure what that would mean. I guess with the Stormcloaks in charge of Skyrim and not acepting help from non-Nords (Ulfric is basically a massive racist) they would be doomed if hammerfell were taken again by the Thalmor. Cyrodil was already owned once so it wouldn't be much of a fight :sadvaultboy:

Aye, but correct me if I'm worng but having played Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion I cannot remember any of them setting the scene so obviously for a sequel. Bethesda knew this title would do well, very well in fact. Why wouldn't they tie in the next elder scrolls so succintly to is predecessor so as not to alienate their newly found console fan base?

Hopefully it will though, Summerset Isles is filled with magical things, with the Crystal Tower, Psiijic Order etc...

I have been waiting to visit that magnificent land for a good 10 years.

I put it in spoilers because you have to know how the story plays out in Skyrim to appreciate what may come next?

I would rather the whole take out the Thalmor thing be it's own game rather than DLC or and Expansion. Mostly because I want a whole game dedicated to Summerset Isle, and neither a DLC or Expansion pack could do that justice.

I can see Bethesda going neutral and saying they made a deal. The Imperials really aren't bad... they just HAVE to do these things or the Thalmor will destroy them. If the Thalmor were gone however...

I agree. This whole Thalmor buisness deserves its own game, not some DLC.

You're joking right? The two biggest factions on the entire continent, and you think it will get wrapped up in a DLC? That said, maybe there just won't be any more games, and Beth will just move on. Has anyone heard anyone official?

Honestly, I see Thalmor as more an excuse to make the decisions you made in this game not have any impact in the future.

Basically, in order to tie up all the loose ends in Daggerfall, they had to make up that Warp In The West to rewrite the consequences and justify all the towns never going to look the same again.

Now, all your Oblivion choices make no difference because the Thalmor burned down all of Cyrodil and 200 years have passed.

See, they have to make a story where it makes no difference what you actually choose, the same lorebooks can still work in the next game. Hence, I HEAVILY doubt you are going to get a chance to choose between whether the Thalmor or the Imperials win the war the next round of conflict, because it would be impossible to reconcile in game lore. Likewise, the Stormcloak rebellion has to have a single resolution in game lore, which means that they're likely to just have the Thalmor conquer Skyrim to make your whole choice moot.

How can we visit Alinor/The Summerset Isles without being forced to play an Altmer? There is no way that the Thalmor would allow men or beasts to enter to island.
