Elder Scrolls = Ownage

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 6:38 pm

Why do games like Halo, MW3, or simple one track minded games get so popular? I like my sports, and Halo from time to time, but it gets old so fast. Oblivion took 150+ hours of my life, and I have a family of my own, so that's a lot for me. Nothing else compares.

The fact that they pay so much attention to detail, and that the games continuously are so deep and never-ending make me grateful there are developers in this world that strive for perfection rather than popularity and money. And hence doing this they accomplish all three.

I just want Bethesda and the main crew that's worked on ES games, my wife HATES YOU ALL. Be proud of this.

Because history has shown, the majority of people in this world are stupid and a larger portion are lemmings.

Bethesda showed me the light. Back in my console days before I switched to PC I used to play Halo massivly, as well as other crappy games. But then their was that fatefull day, I was bored and rented Morrowind. May the Eight and Nine always bless Bethesda.

Halo was good for 30 minutes back in 2001, then I got bored of it. Having a high IQ does depressing things to people who want more out of simplicity. For Elder Scrolls, it's lore and exploration that binds me most.

Lol. I think Halo has a great story line. I read all of the books... and honestly that stuff is epic. But gameplay is so ... go here... do this... game over... go online and kill people... the end.

BORING.

Anyways.

Yeah, I loved the Halo lore. I have to admit I'm a massive halo buff, up until about the third game. After that it just got tedius. But TES is always different and new. While Morrowind was my first TES game, I've played all of them, including battlespire, travels, and Redguard.

Halo's storyline wasn't bad. It was more than just a 'good vs. bad' situation the moment the 'flood' entered the game.
And I don't mind the Modern Warfare games either, they too serve their purpose.

You see, TES is not on the same genre or game type as these games. TES serves its purpose amazingly, just as said games do.

BTW- The world loves multiplayer competition.

You gotta remember that TES isn't a widely popular gaming concept. But then again, TES isn't trying to compete with multiplayer games.

TES is my favorite game series of all time... but i still dab in a little battlefield or COD multiplayer from time to time for the action, violence, and of course all the different shiny guns lol.

We got a lot in common. MW was my first ES game, because I was too young for anything before that. Knowing everything there is to know about Halo, from how it came to be to Halo 4 in the works, I love it. But yeah the gameplay is narrow minded. The very first Halo will always be epic and untouchable. As for the rest,..... whortwhortwhort.

It's hard to tell the story of Halo in FPS with such short campaigns. The storyline is something not even Star Wars could touch in my mind. But as it's been said. ES truly redefines what it is to be a gamer.

Halo has competition.
I love Halo. I also love Elder Scrolls.
I can't even compare the two because they are nothing alike.

Because most players are unexperienced casual players who don't have much time to play games. They prefer easy games, like CoD. Just sit on the sofa and play with little effort.

You gotta remember, people that are bad at certain types of games trash them as if they are the worst thing ever. Helps them feel as if they're superior.

It is the species of gamers we call "Casuals". They are a blentiful bunch. They often wear a headband and speak into it, for no reason other than to add to the torment on the other end.

Well for one most people do not have much time these days and the time they do have has to be prioritized i am not a fan of COD but my time these days is limited once i get home from work i only have about 4-5 hours before i have to go back to bed and get ready for work again, then add in eating dinner etc. leaves me with not nearly as much time as i would like to have..now if i could just win that darn lotto.. :sadvaultboy:

I actually enjoy playing Halo Reach online =BTB every Friday Saturday and Sunday
Idk about the story I guess it was pretty good
I'm a legit player (no t-baggin' and no trash talk) however it's very hard to get teamed up with legit players :sadvaultboy:

As of ES I played Morrowind when I was in my early teens and don't remember much about it. Oblivion on the other hand I've played more recently and absolutely love them game :tes:
Bethesda does a great job and I'm very excited for Skyrim :)

Both CoD and Battlefield are far more enjoyable than Halo for some reason.

Why ppl compare fps to tes I don't know. If you don't play online because you have no friends don't bring the rest of us down that r happy to play both, some ppl are actully good at them and played long before said casual revolution. Plus due to wrk a life and such destractionsI have little time to play. mw3 is gunna feel the squeeze due to skyrim this year and next no more top ten scores for me.

This is a thread of opinions ONCE AGAIN. I'm tired of these threads, some people like FPS and some like games like these, I am one of them but that also depends on my mood, When i'm pissed off and feel like tearing off peoples heads i would rather play an FPS, When i'm in a calm and relaxing mood i play TES even though they involve killing but lets be honest, It doesn't get rid of the anger within you as much as it does in an FPS.

You play online shooters to alleviate your anger issues? LOL I play for fun and competition but that's just me.

And comparing an FPS to a RPG is rather stupid for someone posting it on an RPG-type game forum. (no offence to the OP)
Thats like comparing a tea cup too a washing machine, they work different in MANY ways, look and feel different.

I think it's just a matter of taste. I 'm not fond of cod or halo types of games myself, but one of my best friends loves them. She plays hours upon ours of those types of games. She's a smart cookie so I definitely don't think it's a matter of intelligence...just preference. We both love bioshock and portal though.

My husband has very similar tastes as myself we both are big fans of the es and fallout series. I also love silent hill and resident evil games..he hates them, gives him creepy crawlies..and would rather play Civilization, which makes me yawn and get tired.

People that are different than myself make me happy,..would be boring if we all were alike. Why do people that differ from yourself have to be stupid, uninteresting or ugly. (tho maybe that is why i'm so good looking...it's the games i choose....hmmmm...jk)

Why do people care so much what other people like?

Don't like MW3 or Halo? Don't play MW3 or Halo.

Yet Todd Howard claims the CoD is a hardcoe game, he who designs RPG's. So it's looking like someone who designs washing machines is looking to the tea cup for inspiration...? D:
