Exactly! Making the Game Better before we even can buy it! know how it all works!

:D

(And don't you need the game files to run the editors anyway?)

Ouch. I can see reading comprehension is not a strong skill of most on this board. Anyway, I think the character editor would be lots of fun to play around with before getting the game

Why is it that people think that if they color their text and make it bold, that means anything to anyone else but them?

For that matter, why does anyone think that when Pete says something... that means it's actually going to happen? How many times, now, have we been told a thousand different things by Bethesda which haven't gone the way they had planned? What would be so shocking if, at some point, they said: "Hey, look. We've got this perfect setup here for a demo. You know, folks have been talking about it. We could really probably consider releasing this bit, as is."

That's not really so rare, actually, in the gaming industry.

Sure, the odds are slim... what with there being a decided lack of them throughout most of gamesass' game-making career... but I don't really think that gives anyone the right to be an ass about it. If you don't have something to contribute other than 'There won't be a demo'... then obviously this is the wrong thread for you to be in.

This is a thread for the discussion of whether or not someone would WANT to play with the character editor, which could feasibly be seen by any one of the various devs and make an impression. One never knows these things.

To spam it up with inane 'Not gonna happen' one-liners is probably bordering on a rule violation of some sort...

Moving along, then:

I would love to get to play with the character editor. That's one of my favorite things to do, really... and I don't exactly feel that I would need the rest of the game to do so. That being said, I would much rather get my hands on the entirety of the game, and play it until my brains ooze out my ears.

Great idea. In my opinion a demo would be terrible, but a character creator would be awesome.

If there was a demo I know I'd get it, BUT I hope there isn't. I don't want to tease myself with a demo. I want to get the full game not a taste.

I have question, How would you demo a game like TES?
I other games they give you the first level or so, but TES games have an open world.

lol I know. But anything can happen. Though I'm 99.99% sure there won't be one, but there is always .01 margin of error.

A way to bypass the first 4-5 hours playing Skyrim by making a character? Oh yeah, that sounds suhweet!

(Yes it took me about 4 and a half hours making a character on Oblivion....-_-')

They aren't making a demo.

But they should, and being able to create your character in advance would be most excellent.

I don't think there will be a demo :).

But nonetheless, a character creator would be nice before the release.

Would be great if it was for ALL systems

Not the point. Whether they should or not is irrelevant.

:banghead: but again this whole thing wasnt about a demo. No one wants a demo, because it wil ruin the game. all i am saying is that they should release the character creator early so that you get that step of the game out of the way. In no way with this spoil any part of the game, its a character creator. not a demo, somethig that they would release early so people get a leg up on the game. :celebration: Character creator please

I'd really like the character creator to come out, though I doubt it will. I'd like to work for hours making my Ayleid (Altmer I change skin color to look like an Ayleid) character just perfect the way I want it without cutting into my gameplay when I buy it at midnight.

I think instead of bethesda making an demo for fans to play before the New elder Scrolls is released, they should bring out the full version of the character creator.
That instead of the first hour or 2 making a character, you can just load one up from your hard drive and start playing.

A demo would be great, they could make the demo the tutorial quest you play in the full game and your character creator will be included into the demo.

PS: You can load up your full copy of Skyrim when it releases and have your character saved (you can only have one save spot with the demo) so not only do you not have to make the character, you can skip the tutorial all toghether.

Where are you getting this from.
If they were to make a demo, which they won't, you would be VERY LIMITED in what type of character you could create.
Demos are meant to give you a taste of the gameplay mechanics not prep for release(thats what an open beta is).
I was thinking how to make a demo of a game like TES and this came up. You choose from a couple premade characters, travel around a small town and countryside with a few quests and dungeons.
While this is all SPECULATION, it does make sense from marketing stand point.

Well what he means is so that for those (which I'm sure there are alot of us) that like to work for a long time getting out characters to look just right, we could do it a few weeks early before Skyrim came out so that we could just load it up right away and jump right into playing instead of waiting 2 hours while we made our characters. It's a nice idea but most likely won't happen, but you can always hope

Ohh Ok. Well I usually take like 10 minutes to make my characters so this doesn't pertain to me that much... but it does sound like a good idea for those who do.

I remember spending (relatively) more time on Creature Creator than on Spore itself. A character generator demo for Skyrim would be nice.

I don't think a demo will come out,but I think the best way for a demo would be to include the first dungeon/mission which contains the tutorial.
For example I think that for Oblivion a demo that ends when you exit the sewers would be very nice.

I wish the intro dungeon on Oblivion was a demo, one that could be loaded when i bought the game so i didn't have to sit through 45 minutes of boringness
