Elder Scrolls V . . .

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:31 am

Picture this: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has just come out. You waited in line all night to get a copy, and once you got it, you rushed home and started it up. You start a new game and learn that it's been 200 years since the Oblivion Crisis, and now all the Provinces are in a state of turmoil, Skyrim in particular. Between the Empire's collaspe and the ongoing fighting between the City-states of Skyrim, chaos is rampant. It is in this chaotic scene in which you start, on a boat headed to Solitude. While on this ship, you get the chance to make your character. What kind of character do you create? (NOTE: THIS SITUATION IS ENTIRELY FICTIONAL, AND ONLY BASED OFF OF ASSUMPTIONS THAT I'VE HEARD AROUND THE FORUMS)

I would make my character a distant descendant of Broken-Scale (my character from MW and OB) named Shattered-Claw, an Argonian Mercenary. After years of Mercenary work, he decided to go to the province where his greatest ancestor went in his last years of life, and search for a clue to what happened to him.

So what about you guys?

Svorj, my Nordic Warrior. Has adventured around Tamriel with me. I think he deserves to spend some time in his homeland.

But, I doubt all this will happen in 200 years. I'm really against the game being 200 years later, and it's not even from a reliable source. I doubt it would take the Empire 200 years to reform itself. 50 years, perhaps. maybe another 50 to get back to where they where in the other provinces.

I want to see a game immediatly after Infernal City. The empire is in total chaos, and I want to be important in it's recovery/downfall. Perhaps I play in Skyrim and drive the Empire away for the Nords?

Took the Roman Empire a good 100 years to halfway reform itself before collapsing completely.

I think the empire is dead.

I hope not :cryvaultboy:

No matter how much I may diss the Imperials, they added flavour to what culture they didn't destroy. They created atmospheric tensions. It was great, imo. I also love to overthrow Imperial rule...

I would be a poor Nord named Rorjanth coming to Skyrim to try and make a new life making things for adventurers and selling pelts to keep people warm, and to use for things. I would spend 8 months in the wilderness getting pelts and making things than coming down from the mountains to sell. That would be some good role playing I think?

I'm sure that whatever province TES V is set in, there will be plants of interest to an herbalist, or ruins of interest to an archaeologist, or landmasses of interest to a cartographer. :D

Lord Fluffington. My signature khajiit starter character for any TES game.

I'll also collect rat-filled soul gems if they're available. If not, I'll collect lettuce and scamp skin.

I think I'd continue the story of my new Oblivion character. Basically in Oblivion, I've created several characters who I roleplay as the Listeners and Speakers of the Black Hand. So my newest character is my Argonian Listener's Silencer, however he's now trying to leave his life as an Assasin behind him, so I'll have him fleeing to Skyrim where he'll still be pursued by some of the Black Hand. So he's probably gonna earn as much money as possible in the towns and cities, while also trying to lay-low. Then he'll buy any and all the supplies he can, and set up home in the wilderness.

Sjork, my Nord warrior who has accompanied through every game; from the familiar cell he finds himself all the time, all the way to stopping the Oblivion crisis. He'll probably start out by getting to know the local landscape and then soon after slaughter anything he finds worthy of death by Sjork - it's a glorious way to go (or so he says...).

Start as an Imperial with a different class then I usually play as and he'd be the start of a new heroic family then the one I played the first four games as.

I always play as a native of the province that plays whatever class makes the most sense for the race. So here, I'm thinking Jora, a Nord barbarian. Backstory will come in time.

I most likely pick the Altmer (High Elf) since I love playing TES games with magika. I tried the Breton in Oblivion but went to Altmer since I thought it was way too powerfull to be Breton and Antronach so had to start a new game.

Other wise, I always liked Argonians and Dunmer.

not necessarily off-topic. That depends on when the game is set. If it's soon after IC and he survives, it may be a question that is integral to the plot.

I think he is a military and political opportunist, and while that may mean he is prone to backstabbing if he sees the need to do it, he is also a force for law and order. Further, if his goal is to rebuild the Empire of Man and establish a dynasty, he may hold back on his own individual needs or desires, thus further limiting what he'd do to political enemies. The last thing he needs is an inter-dynastic feud with some other warlord.

If it is close to IC, I'll likely play some manner of typically heroic character.

I'll probably be an Imperial Agent of the Mede Dynasty, assuming they're still around and haven't messed things up in a major way. If I have the option, I think it would be cool to be a member of the Penitus Oculatus or some other spy agency.

If the Mede Empire collapses for good, I'll probably be an ex-Penitus Oculatus agent looking for work in the courts of Skyrim.

I will most likely make my first character to be my Dark Elf, Sha'ir, the Djiin Piromancer. She is an ashlander who had the deep missfortune of finding herself in the deserts of the southern provences. There she learned to defend herself with fire and conjuration. She has been travelling for the majority of her life, and so has left the more temperate climates in favor of a colder home. And now she finds herself wondering if maybe that was a mistake....

Could be interesting playing an Imperial in that situation: other races looking for payback for all those years of real/perceived oppression...

Personally, I usually pick a race/class combination which piques my interest while I'm putting the character together. One game I might play a Nord assassin,
the next might be an Argonian battlemage. Really depends on what kind of mood I'm in at the time.

As always start with a Breton battle mage named Ibram(or Johan) who has lived in his fathers shadow Raynor (character from oblivion) who was a great battle mage and arch mage of Cyrodiil. At an early age decided to try to make a name for himself in -Insert provence-.
