Elder Scrolls Trilogy

Why does it all start with Morrowind?
I'm one of those who don't like "their" game/book/movie butchered by a movie/game/book, but frankly it's the LOTR movie that made me read the book which I've never heard of, so I guess it can work either way if and only if there is a great director who can do Tes justice in good taste. So, the question is: is there any great director who happens to be a big Tes fan?

Same here, I watched the trilogy and then read the book. God bless Sir Peter Jackson, without him I'd have never known Tolkien and his great work.

How do you make a movie, or movies, when each story starts with a blank slate, and new avatar

Probably because Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim are the most similar to one another in the presentation of the world and the engine tech. Think of how Grand Theft Auto fans often group GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas into one "era" because they're so similar and their stories intertwine.

But no thank you. The only Elder Scrolls game whose plot would make an awesome movie is Redguard, and the game does enough justice to that material alone.

Well the game engines are similar. But chronologically, Oblivion is years after Morrowind, Skyrim is 200 years after Oblivion. Even if it did happen it would seem a bit hard to follow on the big screen. It wouldn't be worth the effort to make the movie(s). If a movie were made in the same universe completely independent from the games. Maybe.

Maybe the movie doesn't have to do with the champions of the regions but the mythology and wars taken place in Tamriel?

But I would much rather play a really good LotR game than watch the films, good as they are, and the same goes for TES.

Well basically The Elder Scrolls got their kick with Morrowind. It was so far of what I know. The biggest game ever (or something) that time when it was released.

Daggerfall, the 2nd TES game, faetures the largest game space of amy game, ever,

Okay, is it that surprising to some of you that people think of the Elder Scrolls series as starting with Morrowind? Yes, yes, I am sure many of you are hardcoe ES fans... *checks join dates on many of the posters in this thread* Mmmhmmm. :stare:

Here's a tip - if you feel a thread is going off course... use the handy, ubiquitous report buttons. OR, if you just think the topic is not to your taste, don't post. Why post snotty little comments that add nothing, except to boost your post count or make it look like you are all about the ES, back from '98 or so. That kind of behavior makes the moderators cranky.

OP, sorry your topic went downhill, but there's too much nonsense for me to just delete posts and clean up.
