Elderscrolls 5 announced, Topic 3

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:40 am

I meant no offence. I edited my post to reflect this slightly better.

Still though, if you haven't played Morrowind then go do it!

I swear to drunk I'm not god, officer. :P

I'm high off of life, and good announcements, and angry because of life, and good announcements. Maybe I'm bipolar. Hmm...

I must have been out of the room right when they announced it because I initially came here to see the continue discussion of when it would be released... Then I see this topic and I am like WTF!? Finally after all this time.. 11-11-11 sounds good to me. Look forward to seeing some screens. :)

I'm just going to point out that the Nerevarine went missing on an expedition to Skyrim, and Tiber Septim is called the Dragonborn. This tells me things. Dark whispering things.

I really hope we get a lot of lore related stuff.

Otherwise, I'm stoked! Was highly surprised by this. Actually I was over the Mass Effect forums telling how the trailer left me lukewarm and how I'm crossing my fingers for Bioware to actually write a decent story, when I saw the news. I am much, much more excited for Skyrim. But anyone noticed how two big RPG franchises announced their upcoming game on the very same event, whose main story is about huge, mean flying things trying to kill everyone? I mean, I watched ME3's trailers and was like; ah, the Reapers attack Earth, and then; so the dragons are attacking Tamriel? Strange.

Though personally, I hope Skyrim won't be as in the face epic as Oblivion. In a way, the trailer made me feel a Morrowind-type of mood. I don't know if its the cravings, the accent of the narrator and the overall... "ethnic" mood if you will. I really hope it will show in the story, that it won't be as much as finding a way to stop Oblivion in getting all over Tamriel, I hope for something a bit more subtle as in Morrowind. It was still about saving a province, but no one really felt any real danger, you had to prove yourself as the Nerevarine. For some reason I also felt the story will have to do with a prophecy, we'll see. Like I said, I sure do hope it will be more than what Oblivion offered us.

That is definitely the shortest, post Daggerfall, anyway.

Morrowind- 2 years, 2 months

Oblivion- 1 year, 6 months (?)

Skyrim- 11 months

Anyone think it may end up being delayed?

This is the first announcement. That doesn't mean they just started working on it. Its not quite the "please don't announce any game until it actually goes gold" that I daydream about, but its close. They don't give a date until they know they will make the date. Oblivion got "Holidays 2005" until they were sure. We ended up shutting down so many "I know the real date because my Dad's uncle's brother's neighbor's cousin twice removed knows one of the chinchillas that run the servers at Bethesda and he told me all about it." threads it was ridiculous. This is better, imo.

I agree, I'm pre-ordering this ASAP! I Don't care this game deserves an instant Pre-Order.

I'm going to give it a few months before I preorder because knowing the gaming trends these days <_< they're probably going to attach certain in-game goodies to games preordered from certain stores.

I don't think they will let that happen for Skyrim.

TESV teaser bullet point anolyse:

Dragons
Dragon Lord
Civil war
Some LOTR music spliced into the teaser(pretty good music, mind you)
Unite the kingdom!

I'll wait for further information before I condemn it, but it's looking bleak.

First, I have to say, thank god I'm no longer waiting for confirmation (just like everyone else here, I'm sure.)

Secondly... If this thing got rid of the Construction Set or allowing mods, I am going to go ballistic. Surely, SURELY, Bethesda knows better than that.

I'm a little annoyed at the release date. It strikes me as inappropriate and only done for a cheap marketing graphic 11-11-11.I'm a little annoyed at myself for being annoyed because I'm fairly certain no insult was intended.

Why are you annoyed at the release date? It's a Friday. Most games, movies, etc., release on Tuesdays.

 I'd also like to point out that I acknowledged that the release date was a Friday three pages before Gstaff did. Typical Michigan Wolverine, always stealing from a Buckeye. ;)

Aye, I'm thinking that once the Elderscrolls.com comes back on line, there will be a Skyrim General board. Just way too much to hold in this board (picture anolysis, more lore, etc.)

BUT that's just speculation...

They will have had three years to exclusively make the game, whereas they worked on Morrowind and Oblivion for about 4 years, right? I know the development team for TES V is almost twice the size it was back during Oblivion's development, but do you believe they will be giving us a game of equal size to Oblivion? Larger? I'm not sure what to expect, exactly.

God I hope Skyrim is lore heavy. All those 'fans' who only ever played Oblivion can go and do obscene things to themselves. Morrowind and before fans want their franchise back!

Was that entirely necessary? I've played both games and love both Morrowind and Oblivion. I'm thrilled at the news of TES V being announced

I've noticed that it's a common trait when a new game in a series is announced. There are a lot of Fallout 3 bashers on the Fallout New Vagas thread. People like to feel like they belong to an elite club. There's no need for it. :fallout:
