Elemental Fury

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:45 pm

In short, elemental fury increases your attack speed by enchanting your equipped weapon with a particular enchantment (which looks cool)

This brings into question what happens when you're fighting with an enchanted weapon. It simply doesn't work. It says the weapon is already enchanted, thus it can't do anything.

I am a dual-axe warrior, and this completely baffles me. My weapons are enchanted, as is the norm. Why can't I enjoy additional attack speed just because it can apply fire damage for 1 point with every hit?

If I'm a master enchanter with dual enchantment perk, can I still use it?

If I dual wield and one of my weapons are free, can I still use it?

Because I can see a great potential with 65% increased attack speed here.

Is it possible to mod the hell out of this? 30% increased attack speed is not small. Imagine the fun of slashing all the way through the dungeon screaming with a makeshift tornado.

Why does it have to be enchantment anyway? They have a goddang perk to increase attack speed. Ain't like it's much different

I would rather mod out those wind sounds and visuals. They can often get stuck repeating when you change cells. Then you go mad from the unstoppable wind sound.

This has annoyed me as well with my big slow two hander. I'm sure someone will mod it soon though.

Elemental fury is probably one of the better shouts, if not the best shout. Weapon enchants arnt all that esp. when you get just apply paralysis poison to weapons and roflstomp everything and anything anyways. This however is one of the few things that keeps artifacts underpowered (Poor craft scaling, elemental fury cannot be applied to them, etc, etc).

I had hoped that once you discovered the addtional 'words' the final one would unlock ability to use this shout with enchanted weapons. No such luck though :(

I think this is a bizarre flaw. There's literally no reason for players to be punished for enchanting their weapons or finding a good enchanted one.

If it make any difference you can still have enchanted weapon in your off-hand and EF will work.

I'd have to say that Elemental Fury is my favorite combat shout. I carry an unenchanted sword just so I can use Elemental Fury and slice my enemies into ribbons! :toughninja:

Become Ethereal is still my absolute favorite for BASE jumping, though.

The shout not working on enchantment weapons is probably an oversight. I can't fathom that it was designed to behave this way. Hopefully a patch will fix this sometime within the next 15 years, or failing that, we'll have a mod soon.

And yeah, the sound glitch is unbelievably annoying. Is there a way to fix this (besides reloading an old save)?

A way to mod it is probably to exploit the Dual Flurry mechanism. Otherwise maybe I'm not gonna use Elemental Fury and choose Unrelenting Force all the way

There's still the question though: If I have the master enchantment perk (which allows you to enchant an item with two enchantments instead of just one) will it work?

Enchanted weapons are already overpowered by themselves. Surely you don't need additional attack speed.

Not a constructive answer in every definition of the word. It's like saying because smithing + enchanting + alchemy is already incredibly overpowered surely we don't need sneaking or any form of magic.

You're right, it's not; but complaining about a flaw in the forums that are hardly ever read by the developers won't truly help your cause.
You can wait for mods if you're playing the PC version, but I'm afraid that's about it.

Just so you know, elemental fury is absolutely INSANE. It seems to boost damage as well as attack speed, for me; I only use it if i really, really, DESPERATELY need an "Instant Win" button. Because with it I can kill anything in the game in roughly 1-2 flurries, and I'm not even using daedric weapons, or with all the damage perks.

And when i say insane, i mean RIDICULOUS.

I was bummed when I found out about this, but I just svcked it up, made 2 new axes, and use it whenever I go into combat. The enchant from the shout is sooo much better than anything I can do to my weapons lol

This shout is a HUGE damage boost. Bigger than anything the garbage enchants can compare to. Enchants are for killing trash enemies... elemental fury is for bringing down tough enemies stupidly fast.

I guess they didn't want you to be even more overpowered. Enchantments alone a good enough, I think they didn't want to have enchantments and the attack speed bonus at the same time.

You seem to have seen so many complaints that you immediately assume every thread that is not about praising to be complaints. Read my post VERY carefully: I'm asking about possibilities to overcome the problem. Have you answered them yet?

In case you're wondering, here's the question in question:

It's only worthless if you enchant your weapons.

Not sure if it works bare-handed, but if it does, I think it would be best to use it like that.

Why, yes. Every post that's not about boot-licking Bethesda is clearly a complaint. The game has clearly no flaws and it's working all as intended.

Addressing the flaws in an open forum, which anyone has access to, is nothing but fanning the flames of hatred towards the company. No, that doesn't mean we have to turn every single topic into blind praise and ignore all the problems. All I'm saying is that you won't get the kind of support you're looking for in here, as developers hardly look at their own forums. The real issue resides in the lack of communication Bethesda has with the player base, which unfortunately we can't do much about. We can make a compilation of all the bugs and problems, but I can guarantee you they will hardly look at it. Why is that, you ask? Because no human being likes being pointed out of their mistakes, especially when it's something about they've dedicated so much time into.

The game has problems, without a doubt, but I honestly don't think pointing them out in here will attract the kind of audience you're looking for. Like I said in my previous post, you'll have to resort to the mod community to play the game as you want; fixing those details that make the difference between a polished and a rushed product. Unfortunately, console players will have to wait for a late patch to repair the damage that has already affected several people; mainly those with frame rate issues and corrupting the files.

Anyway, to answer your question, the shout seems to ignore the dual enchantment perk; meaning that you won't be able to increase the attack speed of an enchanted weapon through it. That doesn't make the shout useless, as your topic description states, since many players (myself included) don't like using enchanted weapons at all.

You wanted a complete answer, and I believe I addressed all your points. Do not take this as an aggressive post or anything of the like. On the contrary, just take it as something to think about, if at all. If I missed something, do let me know.

It's gotta be a glitch. It's a Shout not an Enchantment. With all the other imbalances programed into the game you can't tell me that Elemental Fury was classified as an enchantment to prevent people becoming to strong by Bethesda....can you? I want my Godlike Master Smith/Enchanter/Warrior to become the God of Gods....!

I love the elemental fury perk, i use it all the time, even in late game on master difficulty. What i mostly do is carry an enchanted weapon on the side and only pull it out in really dire situations - on master each charge is very valuble in a tight situation. My normal weapon will be an unenchanted weapon to use elemental fury.

With level 3 elemental fury on an unenchanted weapon is almost as good if not better then its enchanted counterpart on master difficulty. (surviving is more about not giving them a chance to hit you by constantly making them stumble and dodge every power attack, and elemental fury helps you do that and still get hits on them)
