Eletric and water

Would you like the ability to use shock against water and allow it to electrocute people inside the water and kill them or fatally harm?

I think it could definitely add to some very dynamic gameplay options, and would make the player think more about how they could potentially go about a certain situation. I like the idea.

Well, sounds like an easy way to kill every fish in the sea...

I think it should turn the damage into an AoE attack while enemies are in the water, but it should by no means instantly kill them. That'd be so broken.

Agreed. To make it a instant kill would be somewhat [censored] to put it one way. I like the idea of making it into a AoE attack.

It worked pretty well in bioshock so I don't see why not, and since beth sited bioshock as an influence on how magic will be implemented and as fire is going to effect the environment they might just do it.

It'd be way over powered if it was insta-kill. So yes, with AoE

i would like it but i wouldn't wont it to be a guaranteed insta kill like in bio-shock. to be realistic the more people in the pool of water the less damage would be done to each.

i would want it to magnify the effect of electricity to a degree and then divided between the amount of things in the water.

i would also like to be able to freeze things in place if it was in a pool of water.

Only if you also get hurt if you're standing in the same puddle or pool of water.

I think that electrocuting enemies shouldn't do much more damage but keep the target in place for a while.

reminds me of quake 1 when I used the lightning gun underwater ..... instant reload

yes magic should be more dynamic and it is

oil, water, trees, grass all should be affected by magic.

I've always liked the electrocution-by-water idea. But it seems like most people don't know how unrealistic it is. You don't actually get electrocuted very easily while in the water, unless you're standing on or touching the ground beneath. You'd get the charge through your body, but you wouldn't get damaged by it. And that's not even mentioning the fact that some types of water aren't even pure enough to lead the current.

Also, lightning would never happen underwater, because lightning rarely hits water because it is attracted by high ground, so it almost always hits the beach next to it (unless we're talking about ocean-lighting, but Skyrim doesn't have a vast ocean anyways). Also, I believe the water surface stops the lightning (not sure), so that would mean that visible lightnings don't even exist at seas (unless you're on a boat and you experience "St. Elmo's Fire", the popular name of mast lightning).

I sure hope not, as this would break the fundamental laws of nature.

Pure water cannot conduct electricity. Water with dissolved salts (like NaCl aka table salt) can (although ineffectively). Filthy water could conduct to a very small degree, as it may have contained ions.

So basically: NO!

Thanks for that, I guess I was halfway correct then, just opposite of what you said lol.

Nah, I think it pretty obvious when you think about it. Just the fact that water is a liquid, might be a clue by itself.

And I thought I was the party-pooper around here. It's a GAME, why should it matter if water can conduct electricity or not? It just adds to the gameplay.

Anyway, I find it weird that people are calling Skyrim "Fallout with magic", and yet I've never heard anyone say "Bioshock with swords".

Mainly because Skyrim is the development sequel to Fallout 3.
