eliminate the ability to run forever.

i love everything about the elder scrolls, except that everyone runs around like a maniac. i understand there is a sprint function, but apparently you can still constant run. either they should make running(not sprinting) drain fatigue as well as sprinting, or they should simply get rid of constant running. maybe slow running or fast pace walking, but it kinda makes it feel like some sort of arcade jumpy game if people can speed around.

It's a really big game world compared to other RPGs and some of us prefer running around on foot (or at least walking quickly) to using fast travel.

maybe with the new Havok behavior someone can make a "http://www.womansday.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/images/wd2/content/health/fitness-exercise/speedwalking-tips/286702-1-eng-US/Speedwalking-Tips_full_article_vertical.jpg" mod

No. Morrowind was incredibly slow and boring to trudge around in constantly. Good riddance to stamina fatigue drain while running.

That would be awful, I want to enjoy the game. Not spend half of my time playing walking everywhere or having to constantly use fast travel.

This is one of those times where fun trumps realism.

I understand the need to include this for realism purposes and what not, but since this is a large open world, it could turn people off easily because it would slow down the gameplay. Having it a "Realism" mod would be fine and all, I'd probably play that if other realism features were included as well, but definitely not in vanilla.

Well, since there is a sprint feature now hopefully your qualms have been addressed.

I haven't played GTA4 but something tells me running there worked the same way as it did with San Andreas. Running takes no stamina but you can sprint for a while.
Skyrim will basically have the same thing...

Agreed. The only thing that it would improve is realism, and you'll be able to kill dragons with your bare hands.

Minus having to mash a button... GTA (All rockstar games really) Have an incredibly undwieldy sprint habit, that forces you to Hold (A in the 360) to run and tap quickly to sprint. My guess is Skyrim will have (on the 360/PS3) anolog Walk/Run and then a button that initiates sprint, draining stamina rapidly. It is a much better system of by-foot travel. It keeps that sense of "Slow down in unfriendly territory" Since if you're sprnting you will be out of stamina should an enemy attack, but it's also more forgiving, unlike in Morrowind, where if your speed was low, running was literally walking, but still fatigued you quickly.

Oblivion got plenty of perfect scores. Just because you use bigger font, doesn't make your argument any better.

Don't run. When you run low on fatigue, say "ohh, Lawd have mercy, I'm so tired." And walk for a while. Problem solved. Entirely optional, as most things should be.

I'm sure there's more that I dont feel like looking up, plus there's tons of 9.5+ reviews. How many 10/10 reviews does gta4 have? 1?

Theres 10. Have a nice day.

As for running. I expect sprint in Skyrim will be like most other games with sprint, you can run as long as you want and regen stamina while running and the stamina is used rapidly when sprinting. I assume and hope that is hope it works.

I hope there's still a perk or some way to slow down the rate you become fatigued, like what athletics did. Maybe they didn't want athletics as a skill, so implemented what it does differently.

Um, you could still run constantly in GTA 4. It's called jogging. You know, the thing you do when not sprinting?

Does this sound like Skyrim's system yet?

Why would you want to move slower lol? I don't htink it's a good idea to make your guy move slower it would make it harder and more boring to.

Thats what the purpose of the Athletic ability is. To determine how long and how fast you can run without getting tired.
Just jogging around the world SHOULD take some toll on your fatigue and force you to walk.

Sprinting especially. I hated the fact that i could just speed a long everywhere i wanted. It got boring and seemed meaningless

Stopping and smelling the roses in this game needs to be worth it for this system to be implemented

In other words: BETHESDA NEEDS TO MAKE THIS WORLD BEAUTIFUL AND INTERESTING

BTW: There's another very similar thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1189446-panting-npcs/ Here is my opinion:

I expect my character to get tired, since I get tired when I run . . . if this is not in the game, I'll likely mod it, like I did in FO3 and NV.

With my Realism Tweaks, I created my own stat, that I called Strain, which slowly increased while you were running, and the amount of Strain per second was based on your encumbrance and health. When your character has an encumbrance of less than 60%, you are able to run for roughly 24 game minutes, before having to take a rest . . . and you only have to rest for a couple of minutes before your Strain is back down to 0.

The problem is that few here seem to want any real consequences, or any real challenge in a RPG. Too many view realistic features, like getting tired (or having to eat, drink, or sleep), as something that would hinder their fun (which seem to consists mostly of killing and being god-like as fast as possible). So I seriously doubt that this is going to be in the default game.

shouldn't the world make you want to stop and shouldn't force you every 3 min to admire the scenery?
