[WIPz] Elohin Isles

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:12 pm

A bit of a description of the mod and what I've got for lore so far:

This is a new island city made almost entirely of new meshes will mostly be inhabited by Altmer although there are other races present on the island. They'll have their own look though, I don't plan on copying the vanilla game Altmer at all. A new shop or two, a player home, a new Temple called the Tower of Athaerc and his Sentinels will be the ruling class. The isle is completely surrounded by sea storms, although Athaerc's presence prevents the tides and storms from actually touching and destroying the isle itself. I'm not experienced in quests for Oblivion but I'm not going to be lazy and will figure out how to do it eventually. So far I have 90% of the exterior world completed (still working on the wonky LOD procedure) and am working on new weapons for the guards as I type this update.

I started it on June 15th from the time stamp in the mod. The first gleam in my eye for this design was about 5 years ago, but for Morrowind.

Thanks for checking it out, I'll try to keep this updated as I make more progress.

Best of luck to you, I do really love that magical look it has to it. Reminds me of a better version of the Eversong Woods in WoW, with a different color motif :).

Beautiful! Did you make those meshes and textures? If not, where did you find those?

Very nice. In fact, I'd love to see more of TES IV going in this (kind of) direction.

Most certainly, thanks for checking it out. Here are 2 more newer screenshots, pretty much the same area overall with more detail.

This will mostly be inhabited by you guessed it, Altmer. They'll have their own look though, I dont plan on copying the vanilla game faces at all. A new shop, player home, a new Temple called the Tower of Athaerc and his Sentinels will be the ruling class. The isle is completely surrounded by sea storms, although Athaerc's presence prevents the tides and storms from actually touching the isle itself. Anyway, I am using a mod tileset from a french Morrowind modder, it's pretty old but I've redone alot of the textures and made new varieties of models that are not in the original (plus it's for Oblivion, not MW which means I added normal maps, emiting light from the model itself ). The original did not have any exteriors either, it was some kind of giant spaceship/moutnain/palace thingy that you could only be inside of, whereas mine is alot of smaller buidings inside of 'coral' structures with rooms and corridors between the main architecture. And then of course mine has npcs to talk to and a few creatures to fight. And some stuff to loot...I'm working on some armor for the sentinels as of this typing. Anyway, you guys have a good one. Thanks. I know at least tweo people have asked about writing for this mod...well I had planned on getting to it at some point, but I'm not going to go asking people when I'm still in the thick of putting items into place and texturing like a madman for 8 hours a day or more. The time will come when it will require me to work on dialogue and quests, then I'll put out an APB for people that can do that type of stuff and would like to contribute a quest or two. I worked on some armor variants today, here's a nice screenshot overview of both variants I have so far:

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/lochnarus/Athaerc.jpg
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/lochnarus/Athaerc2.jpg

Actually this really counts as my base set of textures, I'm going to refine it further but try to keep it away from being outrageously gaudy as it's supposed to evoke a feeling of solemnity and reverence. I've only been playing with this today, trying to work out how to make superb glow maps and normals that dont look pixelated. Anyway, full steam ahead, thanks for keeping the coal fires under my ass going! :foodndrink:

Hey guys got a a new update, just one thing really, I took three different things (the well known kabuki mask mesh, the ordinator mod face texture and the mythic dawn head cowl- minus the mask part) and put it all together. It's probably going to be used for some kind of higher position in the Order of Athaerc, the ruling monastic hierarchy of Elohin.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/lochnarus/ScreenShot4-2.jpg

For the eye parts I was going to try and make some glowing eye mesh for it, or maybe just black. If any texturures or clothing people want to contribute to this mod, please feel free to hit me upside the face with your designs, I am actually thinking about getting some outside contributions if anyone cares to. Anyway thanks again!

Looks cool, but I think the face ought to be a different color than the same blue of the cloak, make it stand out some more. Maybe glow map it or something too.

For that matter I think the whole suit might benefit from some sort of accents in a non-blue color, maybe neon red or green? You could line the fringes with glowing runes or something, which would fit with the whole magi theme.

Otherwise looks great though!

Yeah I'm kind of waffling at this point, dont really know what to put there lol. Writer's block, maybe. It will get better, I swear. hehe. Thanks for checking it out. I know it's not skimpy female armor and there's half the people out the door already lol. Here's a funny screenshot of what these guys looked like in Morrowind:
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/lochnarus/Order_ot_Spire_WIP2.jpg

The only part I like still is the cape thing and the male face mask, point of showing this is that I may take some ideas from this, like maybe make the new face white or something, anyway bah it's friday so I'm going to make like a tree and get outta here.
