[WIPz] Elsweyr's Kingdom of Rimmen (Thread 2)

Post » Sat Nov 27, 2010 8:13 am

Hello humans! I'm just here to introduce myself and say that I can be of help modding rimmen, so if you have anything for me to do that doesn't involve scripting or tesgecko, then let me know. I started to work on creating the city of senchal, in southern elsweyr, but I wasn't getting very far with only me and my friend modding. I then notified that you guys were working on Rimmen, so I thought I might as well help?

You should change your pic...before the mods get mad at you for the cuss word. Just trying to help!

So you are a verbal/linguistic perfectionist! Just like me! In fact I would gladly proofread any book or other text that anybody creates for Oblivion. Just give me a holler...

Being somewhat lazy with modding the last days, did lots of updates to my Oblivion installation last week and started playing again after about 5 months of 'abstinence'.

Found a monster spawn point inside Rimmen; seems it's from one of the FCOM mods. I'm playing with that the first time although installed it 3 months ago, shame on me.

Tried to understand the 'mechanisms' of the 'All Natural' patch ESP, and in the end managed to build a patch for Rimmen. Would be easier to ask wrinklyninja to do it, but I wanted to understand how this wrye bash magic works.

Next thing to do is a region for Rimmen, it's so quiet out there, no birds. Crossing the border line is somewhat like reactivating the sound card ;).

Captain says: please do it yourself, as I'm doing garden work currently :P. Started working on the 'drainage creek', as my mesh building motivation is a quite low currently.

Recorded a little film about japanese pagodas on NHK TV yesterday, haven't looked into it, but may be it will bring back my motivation ;).

I'll look for both things asap. Seems the U05 Interior misses not only the collision, but also has wrong normals in the 2nd level ceiling. I'll correct that, do some doors, and send you the meshes.

Pagoda has some progress too, corrected most of the errors. But I want to redo the 'stairhouse', will do all the stairs from bottom to top in one room, not one stairhouse for each level.

Did my first texture bake ever, and now the Rimmen gate house has a FAR nif. The baked texture looks a little odd, may be the base nif has not the best shape for Blenders tool. But the errors won't show up in the distance.

Big thanks to Arthmoor: the readme in RAEVWD is very detailed about the NIF parts not needed for FARs, so it's really optimized now I think.

I'm curious about that since my new computer will supposedly arrive soon and I was planning on installing FCOM and Elsweyr among other things...does MMM add spawn points outside of the borders of Cyrodil?

Maybe I shouldn'd post this, as a rocket out of control might be dangerous ...

Temple interior meshes are finished now, with new stair house and some new lights.

This is the http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/Gyoshin/RimmenTempleMainHall1.jpg before I put the lamps in. Bad weather outside, that's why it's so dark.

So I modified the Cloudruler dragon lamp, now there's http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/Gyoshin/RimmenTempleMainHall2.jpg.

http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/Gyoshin/RimmenTemple2ndFloor.jpg with optimized and retextured lamp from my Akaviri resource pack.

The http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/Gyoshin/RimmenTempleStairHouse.jpg. Lantern is based on the one from hifoos http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22907. I've modified the texture and the mesh for a hanging and semi-trans lantern.

Now it's time for Johnn123s missing doors and stairs ...

Of course and as always: any help is appreciated. I'll PM you for the details.

Edit: Googlepox, have you got my PM? When I clicked 'Send', I just got an empty white page, and it doesn't show up in my 'Conversation' folder.

I just wondered...is this the way Elsweyr is going to be completed? Like small groups finish small parts? If so, I hope the next thing made is dungeons/caves.

I hope this is not only the way to complete Elweyr but the rest of Tamriel too. Based on Onra's fantastic Heightmaps, for instance.

And sorry, no chance for dungeons so far, except mr_siika does the main meshes for 'The Halls of Collossus'.

Only things I'll have is something beyond palace and temple, but more as a way to connect the buildings and the rest of the city. Thinking about something like the Shivering Isle ruins style for this underground ways and stairs, but with a strong Akavir touch of course [img]http://static.zenimax.com/forums/images/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif[/img] .

Currently making good progress working on the palace meshes, and doing some landscape editing around the temple and palace. Not enough to take screenshots yet, so please be patient ...

Edit: wonder what they've done on the forum now, emos show up right in the editor, but convert to bbcode text when posted ...
