[WIPz] Elsweyr's Kingdom of Rimmen, Thread 4

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 9:21 am

At least there's progress! I wouldn't have been able to work on anything anyway even if it was uploaded this weekend. I'm planning on playing through nehrim on my desktop computer, then seeing some friends I haven't seen in a while, then getting neverwinter nights 2 onto my laptop, then playing nerverwinter nights 2, then playing KOTOR, then possibly doing some work for the WIP Inheritance series mod I promised to help with. I might also need to work if my boss calls me in. Anyway, what I'm saying is you don't need to rush or anything when uploading the next release :P

Not sure if I should say 'progress is good' or 'progress is lousy'. Did a lot, but not of the things I should have done. Put Johns stables in again after I rearranged the wall ruins (which still have weird texturing).

Found he put a tatami as doormat in the house, no good idea, no shoes allowed on tatami :P.

So I started to rearrange it all a bit, and did some retexture here and a new mesh there and time for today is almost vanished ... ok, at least I had fun with it, and it looks good to me. Hope John will like it too ...

At least you cluttered. I only did one or two interiors, and I'm still not completely done cluttering either of them :P
Also, (off topic, but oh well) I've been playing nehrim recently (english subbed version finally out!) and so far it is absolutely awesome. Might not get much done until I finish up with nehrim, and possibly neverwinter nights 2. Also, does anybody know how to convert mods to work with nehrim? There's a few things here and there I'd like to add.
Also also, I might either reposition or remove another house in the Uc section when the next update comes out so there will be room for a rock-garden/waterfall/fountain/well thing in the empty square in the district.

New Version at TesNexus: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31203.

Still only alpha:
- upper class part of the city redone by Norinvaux
- picturesque ruined external walls added by Johnn123 and me
- a new stable at the southern gate (house and stable by Johnn123, new placement and new fences by me)
- domes, stairs and ladders on the wall towers and around, a new exit up to the walls from the passages
- basic path grid, driving our NPCs crazy
and may be more I can't remember now :P.

Haven't done any screenshots of the new features yet, will be added later today.

Woo! New version! :D
I'll download either tonight or this weekend.
I'll go around in game next weekend and get some screenshots (I'll try to make them look as picturesk as possible, so sunsets and such). I might even be able to do it before this weekend, only the screenshots would look bad (my laptop svcks at rendering oblivion, so I have to use minimal graphics. other games are fine for some reason).

Uploaded few screenshots. One has at least 2 errors; one (my own) is obvious, wonder who finds the second first (or even more I haven't seen yet).

Rimmen is too big now for a single overview picture, so this one looks quite odd ...

And another update of the update. Fixed the errors shown in the screenshot, and another one I found. Not really necessary to download this one, if you already got the other one, still enough errors in the new package too :P.

Now it's gone, and you never will know :P.

First one was the texture path I missed to change, second was the fire, it was burning 'sideways'. Not visuable: fire also had no light emitter. Which will not be allowed any more, see http://rimmen.weebly.com/mod-editing.html :P.

Haven't gotten a chance to look at the new release yet, but I will this weekend (if I can pull my self away from nehrim for long enough XD).

Looking forward to getting my laptop's windows 7 working again. Got a bad virus, but I managed to get rid of it (good thing had linux on one partition of the drive to fix windows). I'm thinking of pushing aside my interior cluttering for the moment, and focusing on making new things (by retexturing/remeshing various things) and making some NPCs.

Yeah, seems it deserves a bit of a bump. Hasn't been much activity recently.
So, anyone done anything yet? If so, great! I haven't... >.>

Been very busy with a new Palace main keep for Rimmen: http://www3.pic-upload.de/17.10.10/mjrfucpad8t3.jpg.

Had to change it to a 'cylindrical building', as described in the novel. It's about the third or fourth version ... not as easy as I thought.

Started with new side parts of the palace now, so don't wonder if it's still quiet here, I'm just too busy to post. Ugly case of Blenderism or whatever this addiction is called :bonk: ...

Wow! Nice job auryga! Looks really great!
A shiny gold texture for the roof, maybe some ivory-coloured columns, and it'll be absolutely perfect!

Also, johnn123, are you still working on the walls and such around the entrance? If not, I was thinking of expanding it to almost encircle the city, to make it look like at one point the city was much bigger all around, but the outlying areas got abandoned and subsequently destroyed in sieges. Maybe some burnt houses here and there, more broken walls, and huge wall chunks lying near the edges.

No work around the entrances please, I'm working on the roads to and around Rimmen. I will do the entrance surroundings together with that. After this roads are finished, you can 'fill up' more ruins between and around them.

LC area needs more clutter, should look like the Orcrest 'slums', what about that?
