[RELz/Beta] Elsweyr, the Deserts of Anequina (Thread 5)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:38 am

I'm returning to Dune for now... interiors have to be done. Here some impressions from the (finished) lower class interiors.
The interiors will be "filled", don't you worry. This is just to give you an idea what lower-class Dune houses look from the inside.

edit: Iliana, you linked the same Dune pic twice in the first post...
Rimmen team, if you want, I can send you the city wall meshes for Rimmen.

Those are looking good!

I'll add a showcase of your screens and vids to the new thread header.

I had a look at your camel. If you tweak the agility setting down from 50 to 5, and set the speed at around 10, the running animation looks alot better. Lower agility makes the creatures less bouncy.

@ Illiana: for tracking mods, my personal opinion is that the best way to go would just be a simple cell map that shows what mods alter which cells of Elsweyr.

A cell map would be a good idea. Its the easiest way to see what is where.
When you use an esmified esp as a master of a mod it generates alot of wild edits to random cells. So my main concern was that these extra edits were cleaned from dependent mods, otherwise the area could turn into a web of compatibility problems.
Its not so much about controlling dependent mods or dictating anything, but just ensuring that there is some coordination and knowing how everything is working to be able to answer all the questions that users send.

Projects need leadership, whether hands-on, hands-off, as an advisory role, or in firm control. Projects without any leadership or with everyone thinking they're the leader will collapse in arguments and anger due to lack of control, as different modders discover they're modding the same location.

I think just a loose oversight will do for this. Just to keep track of what has been added where.

A central ESM/BSA makes sense as long as it's only being used to house resources and possibly interior cells which are *NOT* edits of vanilla cells. It would more easily facilitate cross-mod questing and the like too assuming that none of the satellite mods are going to get merged back into the main Elsweyr project.
The downside is that changing the contents in an ESM can be a pain, so it would have to be decided early on what goes in and what doesn't and stick with that. Otherwise hassling the flag toggle all the time gets old, unless you hang out in tes4edit a lot.

An esm doesn't seem to have much use in this case, because you would still need to esmify the esp anyway if you wanted to mod the mod, as the Tamriel landscapes couldn't be included in any esm. There are other problems with switching stuff over as well, including the fact that the mod is already released and in use.

Is there any newly recorded dialogue for this mod?

Someone was going to record some for me. But there are thousands and thousands of lines, and its just all a bit overwhelming.

Post 200. I guess I will have to start a new thread now. This one lasted little more than a week!
