[RELz/Beta] Elsweyr, the Deserts of Anequina (Thread 5)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:01 pm

@Mr Siika
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cup8PORiSNY
The town looks beautiful in the video.
Perhaps to downplay the wealth, the gold texture could be replaced with copper or bronze? I feel that would make more sense in the story I've woven for the province.

@Vorians
Yes, I plan to use Mr Siika's layout pretty much exactly as is.
How would you actually divide the city into world spaces? The difficulty is that the town would require the vista, so you would need to see a large swathe of the desert and mountains from within the city worldspace.
I have no idea how to copy a section of the Tamriel worldspace into a new one, like they do with the vanilla cities.

@Uglulyx
Its just a glitch. The spider is placed on the cavern floor and should lock to the cell's path grids. However the game doesn't always like large creatures in small confined spaces so things like that sometimes happen.

Amazing looking town! Can't wait to explore this place in the game! Beautiful work Mr. Silka, this will be a nice addition to Elswyer once finished.

Iliana and team, your project just keeps getting better and better, and with it, the dream of Tamriel grows. :foodndrink:

@ Mr_Siika
This look's good, finally Anequina's citizen have put to good use these animal... he he !
This remind me of the lezard mount in the mod DUNE... is it ? are you the autor of the lizard ?
an other question, i just browse you tube and saw one of your video including a cart (behind the player's horse)
have you release it ? if not, why not ? this would be an extremly great addition to your moddel list...

No, I have nothing to do with that lizard ;-) It's a part of Anequina, but it looks as if it was the one from the Dune mod.

The horse cart is a very difficult topic... I have no running animation for the cart (it is a creature), as it is very difficult to match the speed of a running horse.
Apart from that, the cart sometimes stops following the horse, no idea why.

That's so adorable! Little features like that really do add so much the game. :D

I managed to lift your entire city and place it in my current esp. Now I just have to the mold the ground around it.

It does fit nice and snugly there in amongst the dunes.

He sent me replacements for some of the Orcrest ones -- the walls and towers with the spikes added and a few other fixed buildings. Are those the ones you were thinking of?

I guess so. New LODs based on those will probably help to some extent. If they're not in a released update yet they can wait until they are.

I'd like to try to make the city of Rimmen in a separate plugin that would depend on Elsweyr Anequina. The best location for Rimmen would imho be on the eastern side of the large mountain between Orcrest and Bravil. Near the top of this mountain is a small plateau, after some minor landscape edits there should be enough space for a small city lets say as big as Orcrest's oasis district. Road to Rimmen would go through the souther side of the mountain. This location seems best becouse its close to Rimmens location on Bethesda's map, doesn't require many landscapes changes and offers great view of souther Cyrodiil and Rimmens walls would be visible from Bravil.

So I'd like to ask if you have any plans for this area?

I don't have ANY great vision of Rimmen so if anyone would like to make it don't mind me and go for it.
I haven't ever made a mod of this size so I can't even guarantee it will ever be released.
As I have written I would only like to try as long as Iliana doesn't have any plans for this area.

This place is perfect for a stronghold so there should be a large imperial legion garrison either within city walls or nearby on the very top of the mountain. Since the city will be rather small I'd put it into Tamriel worldspace so that you could fully enjoy the views.
About architecture I don't have the skill to do anything new so i'll use either Orcrest or Corinthe tileset but if it turns out that they completly don't fit with nearby Bravil area I will use Bravil/Leyawiin architecture.

I was under the impression Rimmen is described in the new book, so that might be a good starting point. I don't have the book yet.

@ Mr_Siika
Humm i see... well i guess i'm gonna have to stick to my back-pack and saddle-bag insted of the cart... that was good work eniways...
Thankx for replying !

... And about the lizard thing, i'm confused... the one on the new video (with the machine) does'nt look like the new model you show us yesterday (the bird runner like)... witch are/will be part of Anequina? the lizard or the bird runner ? will the bird you recently created will replace the lizard on that machine (from the movie) in the next updates ?

@ Grzesiog1
if you ever decide your self on making this town, i would sugest using corinthe architecture...would suit best to my opinion !

What happen with this topic... IT'S ON FIRE !!!

This mod is great, getting over the mountains for the first time seeing the wasteland was a great experience.

That is how I felt, too! Way back when...

I am glad that Rimmen might be worked on. Maybe, just have a road connecting to Orcrest...perhaps put a bunch of cliffs to block any roads to Bravil. So it is an isolated community.

Pardon me if I interject, but for anyone thinking of building Rimmen, I think these are a few good starting points (taken from the new book and my own lore) -

-The city could be situated in a valley with a waterfall running down the middle (similar to Riverhold almost), which would provide ample source for the canols mentioned in the book and perhaps some nice fountains

-There is a temple built by the Akaviri (Tsaesci or my own Jin'po, or anything else, whichever suits your fancy), the Tonenaka, said to house ten thousand statues

-Perhaps a jungly atmosphere, like a cross between the Bravil countryside and the Pellitine forest, with vines and big trees but nothing too dense

-Globes or crystals of light, similar to the Ayleid, as Rimmen is close to their center (Bravil)

-And if you do want to go with my version of its history, seperated districts for the different types of Akaviri, and a burnt-down sector if you want to go so far

-There would probably be a temple of Tosh Raka there if the Jin'po from my lore are used, otherwise whatever deity the Tsaesci worship

-Perhaps a lower-class or open-air market where Khajiit and Akaviri mingle

-Some of the description in the book tells that the city "had elegant bones of ivory-colored stone with few towers but many domes. ... the market, a bustling, colorful plaza empty in the middle but girdled by tents and stalls and bounded by canols. A broad avenue flanked by even more expansive waterways continued on to what was clearly the palace, an ancient-looking structure raised up on a high, tiered stone substructure. The tiers held some buildings, and apparently earth, because [Attrebus] could see trees growing there. Surmounting that was a cylindrical building with a large golden dome. Water cascaded down the sides of the palace, feeding the pool that encircled it." It goes on to say that the Tonenaka is on the east side of the palace and is similar to the Cloud Ruler Temple in appearance. Less than half the people on the streets are Khajiit, and those that are are wasted on skooma. The description is brief but informative (I recommend the book, it's quite good), and it should help any prospective city-builders.

Again, these are just what I would personally put in the city, just offered as suggestions for any modders. :)

Just a little note...

Found some floating rocks (e60261eb). There are quite a few, so I only gave one address.

The two models have nothing to do with each other. The "working" lizard has already been part of the Anequina meshes/textures. The "Slarjei" (lizard-ostrich) has been created by me. Both will be part of the mod.

Yes, the lizard is from the DUNE mod. DarknessEternal said I could use it and the creature was included in last month's update. I haven't included a mountable version of it though.

But Mr Siika's new ostrich-like lizard will be the rideable mount . . . in addition to his elephants. There's a buyable war elephant at King's Walk, and you will be able to buy a pack elephant as part of the Merchants Guild questline eventually.

Yes, of course, feel free to use that area. I have no plans for that. If you placed in Rimmen inside its own little hidden valley worldspace you would have much more room to play around with. I think it would be extremely hard to place a city on that spot.
Some other people have included descriptions of it -- it actually appears in the new TES novel (kohdi's quotes are useful), and is also described in the Official Pocket Guide to the Empire.

The main thing to note is that it was founded by Akaviri refugees, so the architecture resembles that of Cloud Ruler Temple. And the population is mostly human, probably with some Akaviri (the Tsaesci snake-men), and a lower rung of poor worker khajiit.

I totally agree...

Great! It needs an ingredient sorter. There are a tonne of new ingredients in the mod! I completely revamped all their properties as well just last month.

Nice!

I could provide a few meshes for Rimmen, if wanted - it seems to be a very interesting place, and it would be strange to use meshes from Orcrest or Corinthe. It's rather easy to create a town wall that looks similar to the walls of Cloudruler temple. Furthermore I think there was a resource by Phit once, some sort of Akaviri tower (same design as Cloudruler temple)... does anybody remember that?

Phitt's pagoda, it's on Nexus...
I think that it hasn't been used in any mods yet, and it looks very nice.
I'm not sure if it will fit in the desert environment, seems to me like more akaviri or high elvish stlye...

Edit: just read up that about it sorry... :)
