[RELz/Beta] Elsweyr, the Deserts of Anequina (Thread 8)

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:46 am

Installed Elsweyr (all three parts) and the first thing I noticed upon loading a saved game was this:

http://www5.picturepush.com/photo/a/2982703/img/Oblivion/Oblivion-2010-02-24-10-56-07-81.jpg

Didn't know Elsweyr edited things on the Cyrodill side of the border... did something go wrong with the install?

I uninstalled Elsweyr and it went right back to normal.

Thanks.

What else you got running? Got Elsweyr running and no issues there (and that's despite OOO adding/changing quite a few things around that region).

I'm running an FCOM setup, along with Unique Landscapes and RAEVWD.... Installing Elsweyr caused the problem, and removing it fixed it. I tried twice, and it caused the same thing. What I can't figure out is why it's causing problems so far away from the Elsweyr border.

Anyone else have this issue? Ideas on how to fix it? I used BOSS to set the load order, but if I need to adjust it somehow, I can.

Thanks.

The missing landscape cell bug is a fairly common symptom of running low on resources. It has nothing at all to do with any particular mod and is solved by quitting to desktop and reloading. It was pure coincidence that you also happened to be adding and removing Anequina at the time.

Hi, there's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uyefuwq67B4 featuring the latest (January) updates with new-looking Dune, Orcrest, desert Noria, and others interesting scenery in Elsweyr. :)

First off, looks like more great work going into Elswyr! That elephant skeleton looks amazing!

But on watching the above video, I was struck with the elephant's running - there is no way that an elephant could run like that on a planet with gravity like earth's! It would break all of it's limbs. There was just recently an interesting article in New Scientist magazine about elephant's gait. They never have an areal phase - ie their body never leaves the ground entirely, infact their "running" is their front legs running, but their back legs walking. Here is the link to the article, which also has a rather good video of elephants "running": http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn18528-full-steam-ahead-for-elephants-unique-gait.html

As for ways to improve this, I suggest that either, make new animations, which could be entirely new, or could be merely sped up versions of the vanilla walking animation (which could probably be done in the CS), or a script could be used so that elephants can never run, but instead have their speed boosted or something.

Thanks! And keep up the great work! :foodndrink:

This is probably the greatest achievement in Oblivion modding since Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. I was very impressed when I briefly tried it half a year ago and I'm looking forward to trying it again once my new game is up and running, which should take a few weeks I guess.

Kudos! :tops:

Ha ha! :D

I've found that oblivionoglogy is a skill that requires constant practice, though. It's amazing how much one forgets (at least I do) after being away from the game several months...

The Megaupload download link seems to be a duplicate of the TESnexus download link? Is it possible to download this mod from Megaupload?

The latest version of the esp says "November 2009" in the description. Also, it needs cleaning - I found 323 identical to master references. Just so you know. :)

Yes, the Megaupload one is alot faster to download as well. They also have a larger file size limit so I could pack the entire mod in just one rar.

The latest version of the esp is labelled January 2010 and has been cleaned using tes4edit.

You still have the old version obviously.

But where is the link? I can only find links to TESnexus. Sorry to be a pain...

On the TESNexus page click on the 'mirrors' tab instead of the 'files' tab. There you'll find the megaupload link.

Hey, my character has run into a certain beast loving Breton female in Orcrest and I could use some direction on a part of the associated quest.

Spoiler
I've found the Orc that speaks Minotaur and she's agreed to translate for me. The quest journal indicates that I need to get the Minotaur to agree to the whole deal. No idea what I need to do. I've basically been running around talking to everyone I can find, hoping for a related topic (which is way better than a compass marker :D).

Side note - Iliana, would it be possible for the quest related conversation topics to still be viewable after chatting with a person. I found that after talking to the witch, the topic was gone. It was only a concern because the chat went by in 1.5 seconds without the audio - which is odd because other people's topics don't go by that fast. Same thing for the quest giver. Once they've sped-read their dialogue, it's gone and some of them don't have quest updates, so I had to start banging on doors trying to find the person they indicated. Knowing it's an orc doesn't help that much in Orcrest lol.

Thanks!

French and Russian translations of version 2 of the mod are now available!
They sure are fast. I only released this one a month ago.

There's a few running around in Dune. The one in the market it rideable if you steal it. I did plan to add a redguard merchant to sell them one day.

If you download the ElsweyrSilentVoice files in the list of optional ones, that will slow down all the dialogue. Its quite a hefty file though, so would reccomend you use Elys Silent Voice instead if you have obse installed.

For the quest--
Spoiler
The last thing Moga said was "follow me", and she then leads you to the minotaur's lair inside the city, where you can talk to her again to speak with the creature. The house is in the alleyway right of the palace. I think its just labelled "Orcrest house" or something like that, but the quest will update when you enter the room, and Moga will still be waiting there for you.

:( Shame on me.

Edit: Wow, the idiot bug bit me hard. I mislabled my backup copy of Anequina as v2, but it wasn't v2 - it was v1 plus all the updates. Good thing I DLed v2 again... I was missing a ton of files. :embarrass: :banghead:

I run TES4LODGen as recommended. After it has run, these files show up as missing in Wrye Bash...

DistantLOD\Tamriel_-15_-23.lod
DistantLOD\Tamriel_-7_-25.lod
DistantLOD\Tamriel_-7_-26.lod

Should I re-install these after TES4LODGen or ignore the fact that they are missing?

Many thanks for any advice.
