"Beyond the chamber we're rewarded with treasure, including a soul gem, which is relevant for enchanting - buffing items, effectively. There's also an Elven glass sword and a Frost Rune."

That explains the elvenish glass stuff we've seen? So that's style+material items then? Awesome.

Or they just misunderstood the demo. Let's hope not, though :D

The mer want to make sure all of their styles and armor are known, which is why they label everything "elvish" outside of their home countries.

They're stuck up like that.

They should have prefaced that article with *SPOILER*. Because now I know not to free that man from the spider web.

Oh . . . good point.

(On the other hand, would you really have skipped that part of the article? I wouldn't . . .)

I'm guessing with the new smithing and forging abilities this will be possible.

Or the writer doesnt know that's 2 distinct armor/weapon styles in TES and just called it that cause it looked elvish to him? ^^

The Gamespot article also mentioned a elven glass sword, but I assumed that they were just adding fluff to make the article more exciting. Model + material would be a much better way of creating items as it would create a larger array of items and satisfy more people's aesthetic desires. I really liked the elven weapons in Oblivion and thought it was unfortunate that I had to abandon the style later for more powerful but less appealing weapons. An elven ebony sword would look better than a regular ebony sword in my opinion. This would be a nice feature to see in game.

Since it's the demo quest they've used for every article since the beginning, they might not have this quest, or they might make it different, in the final game.

Arg. I don't want to read that, as I'd like to keep the surprise factor up as much as possible when I finally play the game in November but at this point, I may as well be a fat guy being dangled over a bakery. I really don't want to read it, but how can I not, you know?

Gotta comment here. The huge debate that sprang up from my post about glass equipment focused a lot of discussion about the "Elven glass sword" we may have seen in screens and the trailer (http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/media/screenshots/ice-wraiths/). My guess is that the sword was somehow labeled as an "Elven glass sword" in the game via the inventory or as described by Todd himself.

Think logically with me here. 1. Why would they(the writers/viewers of Todd at the demo) mention a "soul gem" and a "Frost Rune" so specifically and accurately only to mention an "Elven glass sword" and NOT be referring to exactly the proper name/description either listed in the game's inventory or told to them by Todd? 2. Based on the discussions we've had here about how the sword looks and how it behaves in lighting, we can see this as confirmation of the fact that someone who has actually seen the game in action is referring to said sword with only the knowledge of what he/she is being shown/told. Whereas we, who are already experts at making such speculations, might second guess it over and over because that's what this forum does - A journalist writing a detailed account of what he/she SEES in a demo is more easily an authority on the topic of unbiased Skyrim info. 3. One of the interviews is on the Beth Blog. Why would they post something with conjecture written as a fact? Therefore it must be fact.

The conclusion. We were right(http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1177758-new-armor-design/page__p__17415954__fromsearch__1#entry17415954). Including myself and deathcoffee, as well as many others who supported the idea that there will be weaponry of new styles, as well as the possibility that the sword is an Elven style with undoubtedly "glass" features. How this relates to what has yet to be confirmed about other weapons and armor we've been shown is yet to be seen. Thus, I won't get into it just yet. I'm waiting to be proven correct when it's confirmed, no use arguing more about it now.

The sword is probably explained as an Elven variant, a weapon forged out of Glass in the Elven style, or perhaps simply customized through smithing in general. I'm not sure which yet, but I'm assuming if this can be found as loot in a dungeon like Bleak Falls Barrow, then we can expect more material - style crossed weaponry (and armor???) as loot in our travels.

Or you could just blast him with a fireball and loot the smoldering (I wish) corpse.

I felt the same way after reading the first article, but all the others told the same tale, and it is only one quest out of dozens. There could be such a thing as the actual quest we do is slightly different, or our magnetic personality elicits a different response from the man in the webs.

Hells I'll likely forget all about it until the jerk tries to run off and gets my arrow in the back of his head. November is a long ways off you know.

It's possible that the glass weapons are made by elves, though unless either Todd said that, or the sword is actually called "glass elven" or "elven glass", I wouldn't expect the people playing the demo to know that.

But maybe the sword is just called "elven glass", rather than just glass, that could either mean there's more than one style of glass items in the game, with the elven name denoting a specific one, or it could just be there so we know that glass items are indeed made by elves, we'll see.
