Elven Map Compilation 1 & 2

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:12 am

The maps themselves have no esp/esms so there is no load order. Just install the map set you want in your Data folder.
MergedMaps.esp, if using a Stirk map, loads (BOSS does it) right after the Bashed Patch - right neat the end of the load order

I still haven't been able to get this right.

I have the following mods (all ion OMOD format):
1) Elven Map Redux
2) Elven Map Redux SI
3) New Roads & Bridges (this is in BAIN fomrat)
4) Western Roads
5) Sutch Stirk and Elsweyr Maps Compilation
6) Merged Maps

If I activate any of these esp files, it overwrites the previous ones. For eg., activating the map compilation overwrites the files created by Elven Map Redux.

My current game map shows everything right (in a slightly low-res version), except the western roads. If I activate Western Roads after all other maps, the map gets messed up (icons are off position), and the elven map is gone. If I activate "Merged Maps" after western roads, the western roads do not show.

So my question is, what is the order of installation (not load order) for these?

If I activate "Merged Maps" after western roads, the western roads do not show.

Right, okay.

1) Elven Map Redux SI
Installs a different map, has no connection to the main map, (different name etc.) - irrelevant. Install whenever.

2) New Roads & Bridges
Has no affect on the map (doesn't add one) - irrelevant.

3) Elven Map Redux
This installs a map, as well as marker icons.
Install this first, only if you want the new marker icons, and let the compilation maps overwrite it later - otherwise don't bother with it at all.
Personally I would recommend "Map Marker Overhaul" instead. As that offers even more marker options, and a lot more besides - worth a look at the very least.

4) Western Roads
"West Roads" I think you will find ;)
Offers the option to add a map, an Elven or 'vanilla' map with west roads added. Will overwrite any already installed map.
Install without the map option, or let the compilation map overwrite it later.

5) Merged Maps
This installs the all important MergedMaps.esp for those using a Stirk Map.
It also installs it's own map as well though.
You can either run it (and select any Stirk map option - if using OBMM for instance) and then let the compilation map override it later, or just pull out one of the MergedMaps.esp files and put that in your Data folder. (The esp is all you need.)

5) Sutch Stirk and Elsweyr Maps Compilation
Do this last, of all the mods that add maps. This will allow this map to overwrite any you may have installed earlier.
That is all these files do; replace the map images.

That's the only important thing really:
1. If you want a Stirk map; have the MergedMaps.esp installed and in place (problems can occur with widesreen resolutions) and
2. Install the Compilation Map last of all map mods. To make it the map you have in your directory, and thus the one that shows up in-game.

Vargr - never actually wrote back to thanks you, so here I am (late, but not lost).

This works wonderfully, and I have everything as expected. Cheers to you for your great work!

By the way, I have been looking at the various World mods (that include all the Tamriel provinces) here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1099571-tamriel-worldspace-modding-project-thread-3/, and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30875.

Is there a way I can make this all work with your awesome Map mods?

Glad to hear it.

World mods have no direct effect on the maps. Other map mods however will replace those such as mine. So you will have to pick which you prefer. And no, my map(s) with those icon shifting esp files would only make a huge mess of things
Although it may just be feasible to add the mod addition images to that map as well. I will have a look and see. (I looked at it a while back and wondered myself, but have been too busy to do anything about it.)

EDIT: Had a look. It is possible to copy/paste the additions over, although the difference in the map textures makes the fit a little imperfect.
I don't think I will make upload such maps at the moment (I simply have too little time for such things at the moment) but I see that you have my "Sutch Stirk and Elsweyr Map" which only amounts to an addition of Sutch as those maps have the other two already. You could easily add Sutch to the map using a program like Paint.net (the one I used to make my maps).

Vargr, I can't thank you enough for making these maps.

Would you be willing to make a map with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31183 on it? Reaper made a beautiful little town and would love to have a map with Coldstone on it.

Thanks :)

Does anybody know how this plays out with the "Tamriel Worldspace Modding Project" highmaps?

I have Stirk in use with them and thats fine I tried to make a full world map: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30875

But they have made the Province's a bit bigger so it doesn't fit so well, I'm waiting for the last Skyrim/Morrwind/Blackmarsh part to be done
before I try again and will use TESAnnwyn to generate the world image to colour, I wanted to make it like the Cyrodiil Terrain Map v25 by Kosomot
but I don't know how to or wich filter to use to blend the 60,32.102.dds texture to the 60,32.102_fn.dds normal map to creat the hills and valleys
like he has. At this point a trail map took me an age to get the icons right but it put me at abot the right spot if I sail to Summerset Isle to Firsthold
so I figure generating a map from the Tamriel worldspace in each esp will make the map about right as long as theyer listed in the commandline in the
correct lord order but any thoughts would be helpful as I think the two projects have the same goal,.. expand the games playable landscape

Good Map compilations and thanks for the work!
but when I see Castle Dunkerlore, Bartholm, Sutch reborn, this is far from lore (Such is invoked in a scroll but none said it is really in this location)
and I use none of them.

As for Lore. That's fine of course. Some are sticklers for that, some less so - and I don't judge, this is the modded game, allowing each of us to have his or her own personalised version, which is pretty darn cool when you think about it. Maps are available for all tastes of course; don't have those three? Then you don't want those particular maps either, simple really. ;)

You should be using the file here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16360. I suspect the other 2 are hidden because they are outdated.

Just a little bump to say thanks again for the redicullas goodness that is these complilations! It's great how you can chop and change mods and still have a compatable map availiable.

Just for your info, Arthmoor release http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33003 this morning and this makes some changes to Anvil and the surrounding bay, which, may benifit from a bit of your map magic :hubbahubba:

If this does stir your creative juices (again) that area is also affected by UL-The Lost Coast...

(Sorry but where will it end?!)

I'm thinking of switching to that mod myself. I understand he is still working on some cities (currently in "open classic" state) perhaps after those are added, perhaps.

Thanks. I actually just took a look at your list (and the comments on my maps- thanks guys), not bad at all. Something I will definitely keep an eye on.

Okay, what exactly is your problem?

With the mods you listed (order not important):
1. Install The Elven Map For Shivering Isles - this is completely separate from the rest, so no problems there.
2. Install The Compilation 3 file that you have - This will be you new map.
3. Install Map Marker Overhaul - This will give you the options of what map markers (icons) your map will have, but adds no maps itself (includes markers for Shivering Isles as well.)

That's it; you won't want any other map mods, as they will just overwrite what you already have.

And no, you are correct, you don't need Merged Maps, which just shifts the icons for maps with Stirk on them (Compilations 2,4,6 & 8).

Vargr, could you please add AFK_Weye?
And maybe its better to upload only the image source (with different mods layers) and a little howto tutorial?
Something similar as Gimp XCF file from this map: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23140

I kind of svck at actually making the additions myself (all but Bartholm and parts of New Roads and bridges [which is just roads] is simply extracted from elsewhere) but I might take a look see. (I have the mod myself, which is always a bonus.

I have thought about going the layer route, except my initial aim was to give players a simple map to use "straight out of the box" as opposed to that from at least one other mod which requires, if one doesn't want the given full set, some modification and skill on the user's part to get what they want.

*If anyone wants to make an elven map of any other mod themselves, I would be more than happy to add it to the compilations HINT HINT.
But always bare in mind; a single addition equates to a doubling of the number of maps, which is already 256! (minus one because I haven't included the vanilla map.)

Maybe take few layers from the map at which i gave the link? I'm sure its author will give his approval.
And you could make two versions of your map: "out of the box" with most popular mods and source file with not so popular mods.

Is Leyawiin Reborn just a part of Open Cities Reborn? I looked all over that link and didn't see a download.

I'm in the process of getting all the stuff (except the castle;doesn't fit into my character to have a castle) that the maps show.

edit...downloaded ocr so I guess I can install Leyawiin Reborn by itself.
