Can someone tell me the difference between elven and dwarven swords,they seem similar but was wondering are elven swords faster and not do as much damage as dwarven?

They're not much apart, the base damage of a Dwarven sword is 10, while an Elven sword has the base damage of 11.
All swords share speed, and weight doesn't really matter because again, it's a one point difference between these two.

Once you improve them through smithing using smithing gear and fortify smithing potions, it really boils down to personal preference as with most armor and weapons. I was using both but went with an elven blade since they weigh less and look better. Now I am using a glass blade doing mega damage to trolls, giants, mammoths and more.

In terms of looks, none of the swords do that much for me, except the orcish ones. That's why I usually use axes.
