I emailed and faxed Bethesda....

Hi there...I'm Michael Epic (Yes, the same one from Dust 514 / EVE Online)

I'm really enjoying Fallout 4 and I emailed and faxed Bethesda (because I'm that guy) to give them additional ideas and I wanted to come here to the forums to share my ideas with all of you and maybe the developers will see them as well.

Often times when a fan such as myself decides to write an email, there is a lot of uncertainty about if game developers will even read it. Its worth a shot, right? I have purchased all three versions of Fallout 4. I purchased the PC version for my Dad for Christmas, the PS4 version for myself and the Xbox One version for myself as well. Needless to say, like others in the Fallout 4 community, I am absolutely in love with Fallout 4.

I wanted to share some ideas with you that I had while I was driving over 200 miles this morning. Things that perhaps you might consider for DLC in the future? Its all small things that I believe would really add longevity and flavor to Fallout 4.

I read about "Wasteland Workshop" and I am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED with this idea. The idea I could catch the baddies and pit them against each other for the lulz is AMAZING. Behemoth vs. Alpha Deathclaw? Yes please! But how does it work in the world? If you decide to have a fight night, can settlers come watch? Will they come watch? Can you command them to come watch? (LOL)

Also, based off of this "Wasteland Workshop" premise....will there be any corresponding quests? Imagine this as a DLC component.

Provided you haven't killed Tommy Lonegan from "Combat Zone" he approaches you with an idea. He proposes to you that since you're an unstoppable bad ass in the commonwealth, you throw on boxing gloves (which can be found in the wasteland) and you hold an open call to anyone who wants to fight you. Raiders of course would be dying to do this and you could have a LARGE running quest where a fight league forms within different factions (Brotherhood of Steel, super mutants) and the combat zone is back in business. Your quest is to become the undisputed fighter and folks from all different walks of life in the commonwealth would come to see the fight, maybe record some compliments and add a couple floozy's like Magnolia who want to be on the jock of the champ!

The big quest could be to have 50 undefeated fights, they take place on a Friday night and you get a quest alert in the pip-boy when its time to fight. This would give the commonwealth a real "lived in" feel and a consequence timer. Say you're not there when you should be, you fail the quest. When you become the champ, you get a free level up / perk or some cool gun or some exotic armor that can only be obtained through the fighting/boxing quest.

That would give players incentive to do the quests, liven the commonwealth up with activities to do to keep players engaged and reward us with some legit bad ass loot that we would squeal about!

Also, give some options for admiration from Piper/Cait and this idea would utilize the Combat Zone which is an amazingly wonderful set piece in the game and I hate to see it go unused because whoever designed it at Bethesda is BRILLIANT! +25 cool point for that guy/gal/team.

Why do we have an all faiths church, wedding rings and a romantic companion but there is no option for a wedding or dialogue when you tell your companion to equip the wedding ring? My character wants to make an honest woman out of Piper and have Nick Valentine be the best man! w00t!

Here's a list of questions I have;

Could we have an option to build a casino in a settlement and generate passive caps? I know you guys have the technology because of New Vegas. That would liven the commonwealth up a lot. Give things to do besides build/kill. We need recreational activities ("Wasteland Workshop" being one of them of course, and you're all brilliant amazing for doing it) that perhaps you could sell as modules for $4.99 as well?

Pinball machines? Arcade machines that accept the holotape games? More holotape games? Build an arcade for the settlers to play games and increases their happiness in the settlement?

We have bowling pins, bowling balls and ability to build....could we build a bowling alley? Would it be feasible to add a mechanic in the game that allows us to pick up the bowling balls by holding down A(Xbox One) X(PS4) and roll them down a lane? Could we use our robot companion in Automatron and tell them to reset the pins? Or build a very special bowling pin resetting robot?

Would all of this be possible to do with the creation kit? Have you already thought of these ideas?

I FEEL LIKE you guys have made the very greatest game of all time and in doing so, have the potential to add QUALITY things to the game that will make it last for a long time! If you can make it live and breathe on its own and create content that can infinitely generate things to do in the game....that would be amazing.

Fallout 4 is a masterpiece so far....but shoot for the stars Bethesda and thank you so much for making Fallout 4!!

TL:DR - Fallout 4 is awesome but needs to be able to live / breathe.

It doesn't matter how big you make a game, someone always thinks it should have been bigger.

Would you have been prepared to wait another 2 years and pay twice the cost or those features?

Am I supposed to have heard of you? lol

My own opinions of course, but I really do not want a DLC that's full of nothing but recreational mini games. Some type of tournament pertaining to the Wasteland Workshop DLC would be cool (and they may even have something like that included in it), but I'd rather have actual meaningful content than completing 50 fights in an arena. That sounds more tedious than helping settlements out.

The thing with Tommy probably wouldn't happen. Maybe they do have something like that in mind, but I doubt it. There was a bunch of cut content from the Combat Zone that involved actually watching and participating in fights (we likely wouldn't have been able to just go there and recruit Cait), but it was all cut. I doubt they're going to put it all back in.

Not necessarily but I'm pretty active in the gaming world with Dust 514 / EVE Online as well as WWE 2K, Star Wars Battlefront so you never know where you'll find other gamers that play those games that you recognize or recognize you.

I like the gaming community and like being involved...even got my fiance enjoying and playing Fallout 4 despite her being in the clutch of her bachelors degree! So I just like to see other like minded gamers in new forum locations outside of my usual stomping grounds

Guys, this is going to get spammy real quick if it becomes nothing more than a poll of who has or has not heard of the OP.

Stay on topic please.

A backroom casino in Goodneighbor needs to be a thing.

That would be really cool for sure because that place is kind of shady anyway and it would add to my theory that the game needs to be able to live and breathe on its own! Maybe even a gambling quest or two tied into it?

Ideas are never bad.

I doubt if Beth can implement every great idea that comes down the pike, but who knows...

In any case, I would guess that Mods can accomplish much of the suggestions made by many and, if Beth's history is any indication, Beth doesn't have any problem with that.

That's the joy of mods I guess.

I've often thought this. The Third Rail seems like a natural place for some backroom gambling. I'm surprised that there isn't any there. Goodneighbor in general is just 'that kind' of place.

Welcome Mitchel,

I agree Tommy Lonegans involvement seems to abruptly end after you take Cait. Maybe make him a companion character as well. I'm thinking a quest where you help him get off the junk

Just wait and see what they have made before you start gushing ideas out. And better yet mod them in yourself once the GECK is out

uh, since you made a pretty decent game yourself, why don't you make a game with all of that in it? call it, "super fallout tournament 3000!".
