Embarassing premature release

Post » Wed Nov 10, 2010 12:50 pm

I can not believe that anyone can accept that a game with this many problems should be released at this time.To make matters worse, they charge $50 for something one has to work hard at to get even 15 minutes of play before a crash. This is a very sad state of affairs and the software developers should be embarassed. This is , without any doubt, the worst game , stability wise, and interface-wise I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. This release borders on fraud and, at best, it is not worthy of being released.
I want my money back as I have a very limited time to play and do not wish to spend all of my gaming time helping to beta test a crappy release.

Ok

EDIT: Also, I've crashed like twice in the 20 or so hours I've played, and it was mainly my fault since I alt-tab'd way too much

Err... i have encountered just one bug and two glitches worth mentioning in 3 playthroughs. No crashes for me. I have a pc version, don't know what's yours but it may have to do with your pc and incompability issues or not updated drivers. Did you check everything before raging or...?

If you are disappointed you should return the game to the retailer you bought it from.

Was there a point in starting a new thread to say something which, had you bothered looking, been said multiple times already. Also, I'm sure they are working to fix whatever bugs and glitches there are (I've not encountered any which have ruined the game at all, especially not in the first 15 mins), so how about you stop acting like an idiot and play something else if this game is upsetting you.

I've seen some bugs in game, had some freezes. But not enough to make me think the game was released before it's time.

I have to admit, despite how much I enjoy this game, there are a LOT of bugs. Namely;

Glitches reloading certain weapons that stop you from doing ANYTHING but run / jump for 5-15 seconds (NOT what you want in a firefight!)

NPCs glitching through walls / floor.

NPCs becoming invincible.

Frequently crashing / lagging for no reason (this happens to me at least once a night - last night I had THREE crashes!).

I still enjoy the game, but I'd enjoy it a lot more if I didn't have to reset my console every 30 minutes...

Over 60 hours and NOT ONE major bug, only one crash and no major glitches. No quest problems either.

Far more people are enjoying the game than are having issues. Its just that more people come here to cry and whine then the ones who are playing and having fun.

By all means, completely forget to check your hardware? Is your PC/PS3/360 full of dust? have you cleared the memory/cashe on the 360? If on PC what hardware and OS do you have? how many background programs running?

Check on your end first. Too many people are having a bug free time.

Firstly, this should be put in the Bugs and Issues forum for the particular gaming system you are having problems with, secondly people , DON'T FEED THE TROLL, you see the more you feed him the bigger and fatter he gets and then it just gets ugly for everyone!

You see the whole world revolves around him because HE is having issues! Buy retail and you can return it Troll, use Steam at your own risk! (the main reason I don't buy anything through Steam or the Playstation Store). I prefer to have a hard copy rather just a download ticket thankyou! 50 hours in only 3 crashes Troll!

Nice BS about the amount of people with issues outweighing those without btw, please give me your stats, how many copies sold worldwide? 3 or 4 Million tops? Good one!

I would have to admit that I did have my first save bug last night. Which makes me a little sad but in all reality I've played worse games in the past with far more bugs. The game really isnt too bad people just exaggerate a little bit because they are angry. I don't think the game was released too early though. There is only so much testing you can do and the game reacts differently on every console and PC.

I really think that the vast majority of the socalled bugs that people have encountered, are due to poorly optimized Rigs (i can't comment on the console versions except that since you cant really alter anything there, bugs usually = developer error, in those cases the complaints are justified). Either that or people are trying to play the game on settings that their computer can't handle, atleast not to their expectations.

I personally play on a PC. AMD Phenom II @ 2.5Ghz x4. Nvidia Geforce GTX295 (the noisemaker) and 8 Gigs of RAM (Game only utilizes 2 gigs at default, max 4 gigs if "fixed").

The only problem i've encountered so far in the technical department, was the game not recognizing my card, so i had to do the d3d-workaround to trick it.
Gameplaywise, i can't get Radio New Vegas to correctly state that the NCRCF was successfully liberated.

I've had 0 socalled "gamebreaking" bugs, 0 questbreaking bugs, no faulty audio or game shutdowns. And the only thing i remember to do inorder to keep my PC in proper condition, is updating drivers and defragmenting my harddrives.
Every single one of my friends who've also bought this game haven't experienced anything remotely like these huge bugs some people experience, and they all have different PC's. The only bug we've all encountered (we're 7 in total), is the game not recognizing the GFX card - that applies to both Nvidia and ATI cards.

There was the problem with safefiles being deleted back at the time of the launch, but that was corrected in a patch and personally i never experienced that either, prior to the patch.

I'm not saying that all bugs people experience are their own fault. But i got a strong suspecion that it's overly exagerated when stated that this game is a bug nest, that it never should've been released etc. Some hardware/software setups might cause complications and if you're the type of guy who fiddles around with your hardware settings, you can easilly cause problems for newly released games, unknowingly.

I really doubt the problem is of such a big scale as these forums make it out to be.

With a game with the complexity of New Vegas and for the PC at least all the humungous plethoraic multitude of hardware and software configurations, you cannot expect ANY developer to have the time to test it on every single potentially possible combination of hardware/software configurations.
If a developer did that, we would NEVER see any game being released by them (at least for the PC) because with the mindboggling number of possible combinations out there, they would never even get halfway close to being able to test them all, in part due to new programs and hardware being released all the time.

Also with a game with the depth of New Vegas with all that it has to keep track of behind the scenes, we cannot again expect to see something which is completely free of possible problems. In part due to the fact that no developer is even going to consider all of the combinations of things that players can and will try to get up to in a game like New Vegas.
While they 'could' reduce the potentiial problem with the depth of the things the game has to keep track of during a playthrough, that would result in a game which is more superficial and would also force the players down one route to complete the game.

I can see how someone who bought this game for the console would be unhappy about the game. I do not own it for either one of the consoles, but have it for the PC instead. It's thanks to the community and tools provided by Bethesda/Obsidian that make this game playable... I'm very happy with my PC version.

well, ive only got 5 crashes in 40 hours of gameplay which i didnt find very bad (mostly it was my on fault since im playing without break for 4 hours or so)
no bugs with quest or companions. some minor graphical bugs, and sometimes a bad spawning (like you encounter 2 gaint rad scorps and then suddenly there spawned 6 more which caused me almost to have a heartattack :P and yes my character died)

and well if your game runs smooth you dont have much to complain so you wont post it on this forum.
while if your game is buggy i can fully understand that you want a refund or want it fixed, and that is causing that the forums are flooded with rants and complaints. but the devs are working on it, which can take time. so patience is the key.

as for my self, i really like the game i think its better than fallout 3.

EDIT: i play on the xbox360

It seems that some members spend more time attacking each other than discussing the problems.

It is fine to complain, it is not fine to flame, - the moderators will be dealing with those who do.

What system are you using? As I have around 60 hours of Xbox time and 20 hours of PC time in this game with a total of 2 heating related crashes on the xbox and 0 crashes on the pc. It's very possible it's a system problem.

If on the xbox try to clear your cache before playing. I heard it helped a lot.

I've played about 80hrs of it so far.
It's a really good game very addictive, lots of little things to explore, interesting character development, good plot lines etc

But the game could have been tested more thoroughly, i'm sorry but if you haven't encountered any bugs on a pc version you must be incredibly lucky.
I've averaged about 1 crash every 8 hours approx, which isn't too bad i guess but it's still an issue.
Plenty of random graphics glitches, poor ai pathfinding (i'm looking at companions here).
and my god the loading screens, so many, so many.

Imho i'm happy i bought the game, it really is worth getting even at this stage but i would never belittle anyone for waiting a couple of months for the developers to properly iron out all the issues. (i know lots of different pc rigs and such to consider etc etc).

Btw my favourite moment was when i planted four pieces of C4 then lured a deathclaw over it. boom they go orbital. lulz.
Then 6 of his friends turn up and they don't look happy. O.O

I've played for 7 hours and had 1 glitch ( Poweder ganger stuck in a wall) and 1 crash (after I got ED-E)
other then that i have had no freazes, chrashes, glitches, fps drops, ect. I dont know what every one is complaining about
its a great game with less problems then most games on their release date. :toughninja:

OP: Don't be embarrassed; it happens to lots of guys your age. Often it's a result of stress or nervousness, which can be compounded by performance anxiety. There are many resources available on the internet on how to deal with this problem.
