You sure like to act like it's a bad thing to be risky. I may be a terrible introvert and may avoid most risk-making situations to my best extent but even I know you can't live in your comfort-zone all the time. If they wish to dress like such, then good for them, it's what THEY want. They're the ones who have the courage to look like the arctic fox among red foxes. It doesn't really affect you or the other "95"% of people you claim to hate emos with you. I'd rather hang out with the emo stereotype of whiney teenagers than the intolerant person you're making yourself out to be. :(

*Edit: Good for them for being what they want to be like. Good for you for being what you want to be like. Shame to either of you who would ridicule the other for having a different point of view.

i never said it was wrong, i just think it looks utterly stupid to go out dressed like that. They dress like that to be non-conformist yet conform to dressing like that? And it makes them stick out like a sore thumb to boot.

You know, I keep hearing this "to be non-conformist" motivation attributed to people in different subcultures, but other than punks of the 70's and a few dumb highschool kids I really don't think that's anyone's actual reasoning. It's just an easy thing for people like you to pin on them so that you can make more rude comments about them without actually having any idea what they're about.

Pennsylvania is not that far away, maybe if I cared enough I would offer to meet them. besides, your idea of what is/makes a [censored] is likely not the same as mine.

Well if you care so little, why do you make a point to be so rude and stereotype them all as whiny douches? Let them dress how they want. Clothes =/= personality. Judging/stereotyping people based on looks is really rude and uncalled for.

Snip.

Its nothing to do with people "setting themselves up" for being mocked. People who wear what they want get ridiculed because other people (like you) don't like people dressing different.

Your whole post is so crammed full of baseless generalisations and [censored] rhetoric that i don't know where to start, but i'll just say this; you may "think" you know people, but you don't. Try going out and meeting people rather than looking at a few people you know, reading some stuff on the internet then going on the internet to spout off because you think you are better.

I don't some times I have to do think i do not like. its part of life. bus choosing to make your self a target is just silly.
I don't "hate" emos, I just don't "like" them, well most of them. seeing as i have not met all of them.

They can be who they want, once they are of age to do so, when they are not old enough to, its the parents calls in the end.
Call it courage, if they want to dress that way, go right on. I just hope they know what they are setting them selfs up for.

Like I said, some people like me, others don't.I don't kiss up, and I won't talk to people I don't like unless my job demands it.

yes, I am intolerant, I tell it like I see. (but i might not see it all) Yes I have gotten my self in trouble doing so, but I not about to lie or play nice. You ask me a question, Ill answer it how I feel.

Thats why one of my co-workers who really (all jokes aside) spent $10,00USD on her teeth didn't talk to me for a week. I told her it was absolutely stupid and completely irresponsible waste of money.

When she asked how they looked, I told her like teeth, and a waste of money.

You know, I keep hearing this "to be non-conformist" motivation attributed to people in different subcultures, but other than punks of the 70's and a few dumb highschool kids I really don't think that's anyone's actual reasoning. I could care less what the person is about, when they join a group they are taking on all positives and negatives of it, thats like saying I have no clue what the people who are in the Aryan brother hood are about and they are misunderstood.

They only "make themselves a target" when there are people intolerant enough to insult them about it. If you continued on your merry way without having to create a fuss about it, you'd both be happy. If you get joy out of spewing hate towards another being, though, you should talk to a counselor or something; hating or disliking something is something you shouldn't get positive feelings out of.

No it isn't. Being a member of the Aryan Brotherhood means subscribing to a particular ideology; dressing a certain way means nothing other than dressing a certain way - assuming they're not wearing a swastika on your chest or stark naked or anything like that, then you have no right to judge people for the way they choose to dress.

Did you just kinda compare emos with nazis...?

Anyways, emos, metalheads, hip hoppers, punks, ravers...it's all basically the same thing. They're just music subcultures and teenagers tend to flock to them since they're seeking a group of people they can belong to. Almost every teenager goes through that at some point and eventually most grow out of it. You're really overdramatizing a weee bit...

because I am a rude and inconsiderate person?

The way you keep saying that it almost sounds like you think that's one of your positive traits. If that's the case I don't want to know your negatives.

Yes, I am intolerant.

Thanks for confirming that for us.

Yes but this is a teen subculture, not the Aryan Brotherhood, people should be allowed to listen to Silverstein and wear drainpipes without people automatically thinking they are attention-seeking middle class hokerrs.

EDIT:

I am not better, and I do not think that.

Maybe i misunderstood you there, and if so i apologise at levelling an insult against you, but my point still stands that it is grossly unfair to talk about an entire group of people in a derogatory manner, and claim that when they get mistreated that it is their own fault.

What I've been trying to say is this: Who gives a rat's ass if someone wants to dress a certain way? It's no one's business but their own.

You're not rude and inconsiderate for sharing your opinions, that's not rude or inconsiderate on its own. On the other hand, when you're bashing other people for having different opinions than your own, you do become quite rude and inconsiderate.

Edit: You could say "I don't understand the Emo subculture and would never become part of it myself, I think it's rediculous", but instead you say "Emos are [censored] idiots"

How is that relevant to the discussion?

The OP asked about his daughter saying she was emo and the thread got derailed by the second page..BS like this thread is why we can't have nice things.

Not to be the "YOU CAN NOT HAZ FUN!" guy but seriously..if you're going to troll every topic that comes up go somewhere else, there are plenty of places on the internet that are full of fail trolls-maybe you can learn a thing or two.

Some people make topics more fun by adding humor to them but some just don't get it.
