Emotions and Feelings...?

Post » Fri Oct 08, 2010 4:18 pm

so..... any one know if the people in Skyrim will have Emotions and feelings and if it will effect the tone of voices...?

there has been quite afew times were people sound "normal" when there is ment to be a feeling of them for being scared, for example . . .
Oblivion: one quest is to go into a locked house and slaughter all the quests..... kill of afew and people still have the same tone in their voice as when they first met you... now that to me is abit weird as they are ment to be scared.

so does any think / know if there will be multi-tones in voices in Skyrim..?

That was a bone of contention for many.
It goes to how they handled the VO in the game.
This is a new game on a new engine, that is running several new features.
They know that bad handling of VO is a very strong past complaint that many have.
I would hazard a guess that this is a pretty high thing on their list.
As making something new and hopefully greatly unique, only for gamers to go on about how they've failed again with VO would not be good imo.

I suspect it will be just like Oblivion- any given line recorded once per race, and good luck on them sounding right when put into a particular context in-game.

I mean seriously...for your quest example above, how many times would they have to record each line in order to get the proper tone of "building hysteria" no matter who died in what order? Now think about the same situation with an entire game's worth of NPCs. Yeah...not gonna happen.

We can rebuild him. We have the technology.

And by "we" I mean Beth, and by "technology", I mean "budget".

Look at New Vegas. As a publisher, the finances would be their responsibility, and there's multiple takes of various lines with different VO's in that game.

Bethesda has a lot more money than they did when they made Oblivion.

I agree with this. They know people didn't like it last time around. I'd be very surprised if Bethesda didn't try very hard to improve it next time around.
