"Emperor of Skyrim... Dead...." Bethesda! Fix this g

Post » Mon Mar 25, 2013 11:33 am

Every time I hear a guard saying "The Emperor of Skyrim... Dead...", it makes me want to punch the voice actors for them in the face... This glitch is extremely annoying to me... Cause Skyrim has no Emperor! The Empire does! It should be "The Emperor of the Empire." and the Imperial Guards should be saying it. The Stormcloaks shouldn't even care about it and if they do mention it, they would say it in more of a happy tone since they are enemies of the Empire!

Anybody else gets annoyed with this or is it just me?

The Stormlockas don't want The Empire destroyed, they just want to be free from it, even they know the empire is needed to fight the AD, and with The Emperors death, it means more ploitical unrest, and the AD having a better shot at killing everyone. The Emperor being killed is not good for them.

Furthermore, if you try to invade Solitude, and take it over for the Stormcloaks as part of the civil war, when the Emperor is visiting, Ulfric tells you he wont order the attack because he knows if royal blood is spilled during a Stormcloak attack, the Empire could actually get serious and face-roll the Stormcloaks.

So not only is the Emperor's death bad on the AD front, but it also gives the Stormcloaks reason to fear The Empire actually getting serious about the civil war, and face-rolling them.

And the emperor is technically the emperor of Skyrim, the emperor of Cyrodiil, and the emperor of High Rock, he is, by being emperor of The Empire, emperor of all provinces within the empire.

Ah. Alright. That makes some sense. But still... "Emperor of Skyrim"??? Seriously?

I'm annoyed that you just made a thread in the General Discussion with a massive spoiler in the title.

Queen Victoria was the Empress of India and every other country in the British Empire.

So Skyrim did have an Emperor he just ruled from Cyrodiil.

This is actually something I have an issue with. I understand Ulfric's reasoning, but given the political climate, shouldn't the Elder Council be suspicious of the Stormcloaks involvement in the death of the Emperor anyway? I mean:

Spoiler
The Dark Brotherhood is effectively "destroyed" as far as the Council knows until the Emperor actually dies. I could see some of them arguing that the Stormcloaks finished the job, or even that the Stormcloaks placed the hit in the first place. Shouldn't Ulfric be concerned about that once the first attempt is madet?

ironicly the elder councile wanted the emperor to die, the guy that gives you the contract is a member of elder councile starting a conspiracy, possibly because the council thought emperor to be too cowardly on things so they wanted to get rid of him

The Stromcloaks aren't assassins and certainly don't have the influence or wealth to hire an assassin guild, besides the council knows that the stormcloaks wont gain anything from taking out the emperor, the eyes should be on the emperor's true enemies, the thalmor. oh yeah i forgot, the contact is actually from the elder council so they themselves want Mede dead.

As far as we know, the contract is from a single councilor and, from that, we cannot really assume that they were all in one it.

As far as the Stormcloaks gaining nothing, I think an argument from those not in the know could be made that the Stormcloaks made a gamble. Assassinating the Emperor might convince some political opponents in the Empire that a civil war with the Stormcloaks just isn't worth their time. Plenty of assassins have done things along these lines.

Finally, [spoiler] Balgruuf does suggest that assassins have been found in Whiterun. Take that for what you will. [/spoilers]
