AA enabled, line at top and left of screen.

When I enable AA, there is a one pixel or so line at the top and left of my screen. The color is similar to whatever the sky is, so bluish during the day (brighter when it is clear skies) and can not be seen at night etc... This is on a totally fresh install of Oblivion, so there are no mods at play here. This does not happen indoors.

Specs:
ATI Radeon HD 5700
Intel i7 2.93GHz
8GB DDR3

I have the newest drivers. I have tried other drivers. This does not fix it. I'm running at 1920x1080. I have tried other resolutions, including both 4:3 ratio as well as other wide screens. This does not fix it. I have tried using the in game AA settings as well as setting AA through CCC, to include various levels as well as types of AA. This does not fix it. Turned Vsync on and off, no difference. I've tried changing many things in the ini to no effect. I toyed around with the idea of running it in window that is maximized to the screen but just barely off the edge top and left to hide the bright line, but AA does not work when in a window, so this is not really a solution. I edited the sky texture to make the edge lines black and this only caused a black line through the middle of my sky.

I have spent quite a while browsing the net and the forums to try and find a solution to this. I have found a few threads where people seem to be referencing this issue, but no one has a solution. Inevitably a few people stop by to make some comment about drivers, but no real solution. I'm aware I could play without AA, but that is not the point. Getting it to look as good as possible is half the fun of Oblivion for me. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

This is becoming a common occurrence as of late. The issue is apparently related to the newest ATI Catalyst Drivers. Older versions do not have this issue. I read your post and realize this is not what you want to hear but at the time it's the only solutions available. Disable AA or revert to a previous driver should fix the issue.

Any idea how previous? I play many different games so going too far back is just no good. Anyone know what confirmed last working one is? Is there really no outside the box solution like a HUD element that is a black line on the top and left of the screen? that would be just fine :P

You guys have got to help me with this, some mod came along in the AMD forums and totally torpedoed my thread, made some false statement, accused me of not having much experience with video cards, locked my thread and refuses to even answers a PM! :woot:
http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=143324&enterthread=y

Too bad really, this seems like a good card but drivers and customer service I'm afraid are total crap :( looks like it will be back to nVidia with my next computer...

Wow, what a horrible mod over on the AMD forums. He's not completely informed, obviously. This issue is related to drivers obviously since some versions don't have this problem. Try Catalyst version 10.6. It should be fine for most modern games and especially for Oblivion. I'm about 99% sure the problem wasn't there in that driver version.

Happy to report... 10.6 working like a charm!!! Smooth thank you very much you have no idea how many hours I spend trying to fix this... now I can tweak to my heart's delight without this one thing sticking out like a sore thumb ruining my experience.

Now just to hope Starcraft, Fallout, Civ 5 and a few others like the little bit older drivers! ;) Actually somewhat painless to switch between drivers just two reboots and a few minutes so if I had to I could switch back and forth since I usually get in a mood for a certain game and only play that for a week or more.
