Enchanted Portable Tent v2.1

DESCRIPTION
===============================================
In Anvil, a young mage is recovering from being fired. Originally hired by Lady Umbranox to keep tabs on her wayward Count, Mae Scryus was downsized when the Count became completely untrackable. She's decided to set up a magical supply shop in Anvil, but she needs a healthy supply of septims to afford the real estate; so, meanwhile, you can find her in The Count's Arms and browse her wares.

Mae has a particularly special item on offer, but she won't part with it to just anyone - the buyer has to be someone she likes, and someone skilled enough in Alteration to handle the enchanted portable tent she created during her previous travels. And, of course, the buyer has to be able to afford her price tag of 10,000 septims.

An adventurer of discerning taste would find this an incredible bargain. This isn't a quaint or rustic camping tent, no - this is a luxurious portable abode, fully furnished in gilt-edged woods and lush fabrics. There's a four-poster canopy bed, oodles of safe storage, and all of the amenities required by today's magician on the go. Nowhere to put those dozens of daggers? The magically miniaturized & customizable storage will help you handle the clutter. Overloaded with ingredients and out of your favorite potions? An alchemy lab and ingredient storage is included for just such emergencies. A custom rack will display your staves gorgeously. The sitting area is fantastic for meditation, spell study, or just lounging. The mage-crafted braziers and votives are specially designed to keep you warm without setting your tent ablaze. The finicky magician can change the color theme of the tent, choosing from one of fifteen vivid gem- or metal-inspired tones. Even the Luggage (Cobl only) will dress itself up, so as not to be self-conscious amidst all the other fine furnishings!

HOW TO USE YOUR TENT
===============================================
From your inventory, drop the Enchanted Tent Materials on the ground. The extra bit of material protruding from the fold is the side where the front door to your tent will be. Once it has been positioned satisfactorily, activate it; take a quick step back, and POOF! Your tent will appear!

To take down your tent, or to pick up the Enchanted Tent Materials without setting up your tent, simply activate the tent or the materials while sneaking.

To change the color theme of your tent:
Hold down the left ALT key while clicking on the tent from your inventory, or!
Hold down the left ALT key while activating the tent materials on the ground, or!
Just press the handy "Change Color Theme" switch in the tent, affixed low on the center post. (Recommended.)
Available colors: Amethyst, Blue Topaz, Bronze, Citrine, Emerald, Garnet, Gold, Hematite, Onyx, Pearl, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire, Tourmaline, and Turquoise.
*A new color theme has been added to match the the interior of Star's Rest as well.

By default, the tent is stocked with shelves lined with miniature chests. Each shelf unit can be traded in for an empty shelf, a shelf with normal-sized chests, or an armoire via the "Customize Storage" switch, located just beneath the "Change Color" switch on the center post. Your belongings are safe - if you forget to remove them before switching storage types, just switch back, and everything will still be there. Feel free to milk this feature for "hidden" storage.

A map marker will automatically appear at your tent's location when you enter it after setting it up in a new place.

If you lose your Enchanted Tent Materials, go see Mae, and ask her very nicely to help you recover them. Bring more septims. Of course, if you didn't acquire your tent in a respectable fashion, she will probably not offer to help you.

OTHER NOTES
===============================================
You cannot use your tent indoors, in an Oblivion plane, while in combat, or in certain other dangerous or unstable places.

Non-Cobl users can bypass the menu of the automated ingredient storage shelf by holding the left SHIFT key while activating it.

When you emerge from your tent or fast-travel to it, you will be in just the same spot you were when you entered the tent - avoid entering the tent while sunk into the ground or stuck inside objects.

Path grids have been added to the tent's interior. While companions cannot follow you directly into your tent, they may teleport inside if you've set the tent as their home marker, and should have no trouble getting around. The bed sleeps two.

Changing the color theme of your tent does not change its contents. Your belongings are safe.

All containers except the Wastebasket and the Grinder (Cobl only) are safe for storage.

All Natural and See You Sleep support are included in the main download. Also included is a patch for those who would prefer to hold the left SHIFT key instead of sneak to pick up their tent.

All meshes have been pyffi'd for best performance, and all plugins have been cleaned in TES4Edit for best compatibility.

CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS
===============================================
  • Must be charming, a Journeyman or better at Alteration, and have 10,000 septims; or,
  • must be sneaky, comfortable with grand larceny, and tricksy with a lockpick.

GAME REQUIREMENTS
===============================================
  • The latest official Oblivion patch (1.2.0.416)
  • OBSE v0018 or higher
  • Cobl, if you want the Cobl features
  • See You Sleep, if you want to see yourself sleep in the bed
  • All Natural, if you want the indoor weather effects

INSTALLATION
===============================================
Spoiler
If you are updating from a version older than 2.0, or if you were experiencing any trouble with the tent with a prior version, make a clean save. That means de-activating the old version, and making a new save with no version of this mod active.

Completely uninstall any old versions before installing this version.

1. Extract the archive you downloaded to a temporary location.
2. Move or copy "Enchanted Portable Tent.bsa" to your ..Oblivion\Data folder.
3a. If you do not have Cobl, move or copy "Enchanted Portable Tent.esp" to your ..Oblivion\Data folder.
3b. If you do have Cobl, move or copy "Enchanted Portable Tent.esp" from the "Cobl Version" folder to your ..Oblivion\Data folder.
***Note that 3a and 3b are either/or, do not try to use both plugins at once!***
4. If you have All Natural, move or copy "Enchanted Portable Tent - AN Patch.esp" to your ..Oblivion\Data folder.
5. If you have See You Sleep, move or copy "Enchanted Portable Tent - SYS Patch.esp" to your ..Oblivion\Data folder.
6. If you prefer to hold SHIFT instead of sneaking while picking up your tent or tent materials, move or copy "Enchanted Portable Tent - Alt Hotkey.esp" to your ..Oblivion\Data folder.
7. Activate the plugins you copied in the launcher of your choice.
8. Play!

LOAD ORDER goes like this:
All Natural.esm
P1DseeYouSleep.esp
Enchanted Portable Tent.esp
Enchanted Portable Tent - Alt Hotkey.esp
Enchanted Portable Tent - AN Patch.esp
Enchanted Portable Tent - SYS Patch.esp

The three patches can really go in any order, but they have to be after Enchanted Portable Tent.esp and after P1DseeYouSleep.esp and all the All Natural stuff.

If you are having any trouble, please check http://sites.google.com/site/khettienna/mod-user-guides/how-to-install-mods before asking for help. The guide is super likely to provide the answer or solution you need.

KNOWN BUGS & CONFLICTS
===============================================
Spoiler
There are no known or anticipated mod conflicts at this time, as this mod changes very little of the existing game world.

Tent Materials & inventory icon may not change color right away if you have changed the color theme via the inventory menu. They will update next time you reload the game, or put up/take down your tent. This appears to be a scripting limitation, is purely cosmetic, and will not affect gameplay in any way.

-The Vanishing Tent Phenomenon-
A few users have reported that their tent vanishes after being placed. I do not know what causes this, I cannot replicate it on my end to troubleshoot, and nobody who has experienced the issue has done any troubleshooting as far as I know. I have spent hours trying to break the mod to make the error occur. So, until those having the problem are willing to do more than just complain about it, I'm afraid I can't offer any sure solutions.

If you experience this issue, first make sure you have OBSE v0018 or better (if a newer stable release is out at the time you read this) and that your game is patched to version 1.2.0.416. If those two things check out and your problem persists, then make a new save without the mod active, and then re-activate the mod. Purchase it properly instead of stealing it or using the console cheat. Make sure when you leave your tent, you are actually leaving out the way you came, and not using console commands or teleport spells to leave. If you've done all that, and you're still having the problem, and you're willing to help me figure out why and maybe test some solutions for me, please PM me! And if you aren't willing... well, just know that I'm aware that it happens sometimes, and I'm still stewing on a solution, and that's all I've got.

If you're just looking for a quick-fix for the solution, or if it would help you troubleshoot, you can also accomplish some things with console commands.

"coc khetptinterior" will instantly teleport you to inside your tent. If you leave again via the door, in theory you should be standing right outside your tent.

"set khetptquest.tentinuse to 0" will unflag your tent as in use, and thus if you bought your tent legitimately, Mae should help you recover the materials. Changing the "0" to a "1" might coax your tent out of hiding, if it is disabled when it ought not be.

You can also do some troubleshooting without me, for this problem or any other you might encounter, by visiting http://sites.google.com/site/khettienna/mod-user-guides/mod-use-troubleshooting. If you've encountered a new problem and the solutions there don't solve it, please report it by commenting on this mod at TESNexus. Please give details of your symptoms, your current setup, and any suspicions you have or patterns you've recognized. I am happy to lend a hand and eager to fix any bugs that present themselves.

Looks amazing, but have you thought of adding automated storage for ingredients, like in Frostcrag Reborn, where you can simply click on a trigger which will order all your ingredients for you in assigned containers. Doesn't even have to be one per container, could even be grouped (e.g. horns in one place, fruits in one place, vegetables in one place etc.) it would be a really interesting tent then, slightly more suited to the mage character.

There is automated ingredient storage in both versions. The Cobl version of the tent of course has a Cobl standard ingredient shelf, while the non-Cobl version has one based on Pheonix Amon's original Ingredient Storage shelves. All the ingredients go into one container, as I prefer it that way. If you have Cobl, you can retrieve ingredients by effect if you wish, making it much easier to find what you are looking for. And if you don't have Cobl, I can only say, why not? ;)

Well, this was pretty nifty :D

For my playing style I think I'll add a monetary cost everytime one raises the tent, and/or a ingredient/pelts requirement.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Hooray, an update. Will download later today.

I've been very grateful for your tent on my recent explorations of Blackmarsh and Valenwood (Curtesy of Onra's Heightmaps),. A safe comfortable haven amidst the slightly spooky emptyness of these expanded lands, and perfect for my increasingly powerful Hidden Elf Illusionist.

One tiny request (or maybe not tiny, I've no idea). Is there any way of making the bed work with the See You Sleep mod? I've become so used to that mod that sleeping standing up next to my bed just feels wierd now.

Whatever, I love this mod, (and so does my five year old daughter!). Thank you for your hard work.

Very glad you're enjoying it! I will give some thought to making it possible for the bed to work with See You Sleep. It is a feature I would enjoy as well; however, I've yet to get the two mods to reconcile their differences about color-changing beds. It's on the list, but just in case, don't get your hopes up.

It's not too difficult if you now how to esmify the two esp files, and then creating a patch plugin with those two as a master. What you need is that your bed(roll)s have See You Sleep's script attached, alternatively merged with your bed script if you have any.

The bed itself is not scripted currently, however scripts are run on it to disable it, change the model path, and enable it - this is what prevents the spell included with See You Sleep for modded beds from being viable.

Since you seem to have some experience with this - would it be feasible to duplicate the See You Sleep script on the bed, as you've suggested, but use OBSE's http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/IsModLoaded function as a condition for it? Rather than making a patch, I mean. I can make a patch if there is no other solution, but I prefer to keep to one plugin whenever possible for tidiness.

It is indeed possible, but a bit more complicated than just wrapping the script inside an IsModLoaded test. Any references to records belonging to the See You Sleep mod must reach the actual See You Sleep records.

But you should be able to get hold of the actual See You Sleep stuff by a combination of "RunScriptLine" and "GetFormFromMod".

Ex:

The line
set P1DchairQuest.rBed to rBed
must be changed to something like
RunScriptLine "set P1DchairQuest.rBed to myQuest.rBed
, where myQuest is a dummy quest with a script that holds your variables.

And the line set
rChairBase to P1DactivateChairREF.getBaseObject
must be changed to something like
set tempRef to GetFormFromMod "P1DseeYouSleep.esp" "00D4F8"set rChairBase to tempRef.getBaseObject
- though I think this line in See You Sleep seems strange, and that you should be able to refer directly to the base object:
set rChairBase to GetFormFromMod "P1DseeYouSleep.esp" "00D4F6"

So it will not be simple, but should be doable.

A "See You Sleep" compatibility patch has been posted! --http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28748--

TheNiceOne - It was very kind of you to point me in the right direction. You were right first off that a patch was the way to go. Thank you so much!

If anyone else wants to bring See You Sleep functionality to their own custom beds, I've posted a http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/2296-how-to-make-custom-bed-work-with-see-you-sleep/ at TES Alliance in hopes that it might save others a little time.

Is it merely a "bump" when the mod in question is

Beautiful

Useful

Magical

and

Practical?

I didn't think so either.
