Enchanted Silver Weapons?

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 4:46 pm

I enchanted a silver weapon. It gained a "charge" bar and the glow effect of the chosen enchant, but the weapon descriptor just reads like silver weapons always do. Is the enchant working beyond physical appearance? Is the origional anti-undead effect still working?

The weapon's name won't change unless you edit it. I always edit it to include the name of the enchant so I know what's going on.

Are you sure it's a silver weapon? I don't think you can make that. Silver and gold ingots are only used to make jewelry.

Actually,there are silver weapons.

You cannot make them though, they can only be found as drops from people in "The Silver Hand" which you encounter if you do quests for The Companians.

It sounds like a glitch; you should be able to view the enchantment effect on the item in question.

In the event that the glitch extends to all Silver weapons in your game, take heart. I believe that Daedric weapons have the same effect on Undead, Werewolves, etc.

Don't know if you can make silver weapons, but I've also found a silver weapon somewhere. Can't remember where, and I haven't seen a silver weapon since, so I guess they're fairly rare.
I haven't tried enchanting it, so I don't know if enchanting it works.

I did re-name it. I wasnt refering to that. I was refering to the box of information that normally says somehting like "fire damage 5 points" if i put a fire enchant on the weapon. It just reads the generic text for all silver weapons (extra effective against undead) even after the enchant.

I'm pretty sure you can enchant them but you definately can't make them through smithing. You may or may not be able to strenghten them, though I don't believe you can.

Well...i tend to collect weapons...so with the 12 longsword and 5 claymores of silver i have, i doubt not being able to smith them is a problem.
