Enchanting Armor W/O Attributes

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 8:07 am

Doesn't work as far as I know. Only base Endurance is taken into account at level up.

Ah, even more reason why fortify endurance is useless

Well, there's:

-Fortify health
-Fortify magicka
-Fortify fatigue
-Night eye
-Water walk
-Water breathing
-Light
-Fortify skill (18 of these)
-Shield
-Feather
-Detect life
-Frost resistance
-Fire resistance
-Shock resistance
-Magic resistance
-Weapon resistance
-Chameleon
-invisibility

and anything new they add or that I forgot about.

I mean I'm not happy about the removal of attributes myself but there's no argument here.

We can still have Feather and Jump effects, plus a new Haste effect.

well i never enchanted my armour with stat buffs. i found resistances, armour boosts (DR) and utility spells far more important or magic/stamina boosts more important. Also we might be able to enchant armour and weapons so that they mimic a perk. I do not think this is an issue.

So..uhh....there aren't any attributes in Skyrim...so what exactly is the point of enchanting armor now??

Yes you can still add effects like fire resistance and detect life and stuff to your armor and jewelry, but how far does that get you? No more speed-suits, no more three-mile-long-jump-suits, no more "I'm so strong I can carry everything in my house from Anvil to Bravil and back"-suits.

Honestly, I really don't understand why they would bring enchanting back as a skill if they're eliminating all attributes.

Personally, I never enchanted with stats or skills. I enchanted with all the things you're maligning - Shield, Elemental Shield, Feather, Water walk/breath, etc. Useful stuff.

Skill Fortification
Stat Fortification
Effect Fortification

Enchanting will definitely have it's uses without Attributes, heck I never really enchanted Attributes in Oblivion as that was a waste of time. Effects were way better then attributes.

Feather was better then Strength, 125 weight over 50-60 weight
Fortify Magicka was better then Intelligence, 50 Magicka over 20-24 Magicka
Fortify Fatigue was better then Willpower and so on.

My favorite enchants was the Fire/Frost/Shock Shield lines because they somehow gave you a physical shield effect at the same time you got reduced damage from corresponding element. A non armor build I made would use multiple Fire Sield 20 to get near immunity to fire and cap armor rating at 85 without using a single piece of armor, which means also without having your armor ever degrade when hit. My armor rating was at capped capacity 100% of the time and I had good damage reduction for some elements :)

That or enchanting for Spell Resist/Reflect as needed to reach the 100% mark. Or doing both.

It is all about the perks - enchanting will work the same way as a perk does

They are simply doing it because of what you mention !
People did it, abused the system, and went bit**ing in the forum they could do it... now who s fault ? The system ? or the people that complained they had too much freedom ?

And

"I don't use it argument" holds no water, you are not everyone and everyone does not play the way you play.

They could have spells that are similar to what the attributes did, like feather instead of fortify strength and jump instead of fortify acrobatics. For spells to use on enemies, burden and damage weapon could be strengthened up a bit to take the place of damage strength and speed.

I'm not sure I would call stopping in the middle of battle to check what drain effect an enemy is using deep nor does 'guessing' what attributes they are strong in make combat deep.

well it clearly adds an extra level of 'depth' does it not? You have to consider something else besides health/magicka, so by definition it literally must be deeper. Either way, it was just something I always enjoyed in the games, so I thought I'd point out that I would miss that.

And

You obviously, and sadly, got it wrong.

I couldn t care less of what people do or doesn t do ingame, its single player damn it, anyone do whatever they want.

What piss me up is when the system abuser goes QQ and DEVs hear pissing, and those get so disoriented they implement IMHO dumb system that cut my freedom down, as if TES was a multi player game... unless this is an indication of the future.

@Nakanja...
you re probably right, fortify strenhgt is exactly the same a feather or levitate objet. It just doesn t give the advantage in combat, that is probably what the dev have tryed to cut down.

Because IF such weren t removed, dragon would be diced in no time, abusers would QQ the game is too easy and ¨&*¨*¨*(. So for the sake of it, instead of pinpointingly remove the problem, they prefered to nuke the whole system and we end up whith this nice mutant, that probably would put to shame "Totall Recall" mutants.

Only enchantment I ever used was Shield. In Oblivion, I had a Breton mage with max armor that way.
