Enchanting, is it an excusively magic skill?

There has been a lot of differing opinion on the forums lately as to whether enchanting is a magic skill and belongs in the realm of mages or whether it is open to all types of role playing. By this I mean should for instance "pure warriors" be using enchanting or does it belong to "pure mages"
The way I understand it the crafting skills relate to the following play styles:

Warrior : Smithing

Mage : Enchanting

Thief /Assasin : Alchemy

If I create a "Pure Mage" he will not use smithing/alchemy and only enchanting as the other two go against his character. If I create a "Battlemage" then smithing is fine, same goes for a spellsword (which I personally define as a sword in one hand and a casting spell in the other).

My question is this: Should for instance a "Pure Warrior" be using enchanting skills which I believe are magic or does that remove the characters integrity. Would using enchanting make this "Pure Warrior" actually a battle mage?

Obviously the same applies the other way, should a "Pure Mage" use smithing?
