Enchanting problems

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:28 pm

Ok so I started smithig recently and saw how awesome it was, and managed to get it to 100 with buying iron ingots cheap and then making a hell of alot of iron daggers and leather bracers, and so got my dragon armour :celebration:

However, they have no enchantments on it and I thought i'd put some on it, and saw things like (hypothetical) 15% one handed damage SWEET! and so put it on what i could until i had different enchantments on all my dragon armour...

and then I saw that it went from say 15% to 1% because my enchanting was so bad (I think this is why) and that you cannot replace enchanments as far as I can see.

So what I want to know is if I can remove enchanments without destroying the item so that i can put an upgraded affect on it?

It isn't your skill, you need to use a better soul gem =) Take heart! You can still be great!

Just buy grand soul gem filled with grand soul. They're about 1500 gold. Most of the college sellers and the jarl's wizards carry them. Though getting your skill up will affect the power of the enchants a bit, you'll always need grand soul gem with grand souls to get the best enchantment. You cannot remove enchants without destroying the item. I think you'll have to sell off your item to fund the creation of a new one.

ps. You can also rename items you enchant. Only mentioning this as very few people seem to know that you can lol.

No, it has been said. You can't dischant if you know the enchantment.

For the same reason you leveled Smithing by making a low-level item (daggers), you may want to consider leveling enchanting by making low-level enchantments. So many cheap items (boots, clothes -- you could even enchant those daggers) and then sell them at a higher price, all while improving your enchanting skill. Petty Soul Gems work fine for this.

Also, I recommend saving your game before enchanting an item as important to you as dragon armor.
