Enchanting your own weapons?

How can you make your own magic weapons?
And is temporarily enchanting your weapons any good? If you can do that at all?

you need an enchanting altar, in Frotcrag Spire or the Arcane University, a normal weapon, and a filled soul gem. Once it is made, you still need soul gems to recharge it. Worth it, as you can make weapons that do frost, shock and fire damage at the same time.

You need appropriate weapons to give you an edge. Fire is good against trolls, poisons are very effective against ogres. Also nothing wrong with sneaking. even the toughest warrior hhas to tread carefully sometimes. Drain health isn't the best enchantment on a weapon.

I went to the Arcane University, but dont know what to do there? Is there some other way to enchant weapons?

And are there temporary enchant spells?

No temporary enchants. You need access to the university, by doing the local mages' guild recommendations. Then you can use the Altars in the Chironasium.

That is the only way to enchant weapons? Probably will visit the mages guilds then, thanks.

I'm at level 4 and just got my favorite weapon. I closed an Oblivion gate and got a Descendant Soul Trap Sigil Stone. That's for 5 seconds but that's all you need. I found a Reman Rune Stone and got the Bound Sword from it. Fought something quickly until it needed repair, hammered it to 100%, dropped it and waited until the binding time expired. Picked it up, used the Sigil Stone on it, named it Soul Authority :D and now I have a sword that pretty much feeds everything enchanted I may get. With Azura's Star, I'm all set.

I've been trying to protect myself mostly with a dagger wearing light armor but when I need a powerful weapon, it's there.

Just a quick question of my own regarding enchanting.

I want to enchant some mithril gauntlets of mine with the Shield spell, as my Mages AC is a pathetic 1.

At the moment, the only spell I have available to enchant with is 9% Shield (which is [censored]e). Wierd thing is though the spells I have are 5% Shield for 30 secs, and a 100% Shield for 1 sec. Why can't I use those two?

Armor is enchanted with constant effects, so to balance it out they only let you enchant it to a certain extent.

You can also use a transcendent sigil stone from an Oblivion Gate (level 17+). Just save just before you pick up the stone and reload the save until you get the one you want. It will give you 20% shield, but an elemental shield would be much preferred. It gives you 25% shield ALONG with 25% resistance to that element. Fire, Frost or Shock.
