Enclave or Brotherhood of Steel? and being Good or Evil?

There's something I'd like to bring up about something in Fallout 3. As much as I like the game. I would have liked to have had more choices in the game like we had in NV, but Fallout 3 was better developed.

Okay, so why does Eden want the Vault Dweller to kill everyone with a virus that has 100% kill rate Yet, the Enclave want you dead ? Why can't Eden give you a choice to join them and do a few quests? Yet some other guy in the Enclave hates you and wants you dead, so you can't join. That svcks. Enclave seems like a good evil group to join.

So in Fallout 3, you have choices. Yet the primary faction is only Brotherhood of Steel. The only main area is to be a good old fashioned American.

Yet on the side you can kill people and go around acting like a dike, and still be in the Brotherhood.

Why not join the Enclave and kill people and be evil like the game suggests on the back of the cover when you buy it?

It would have been cool to have a choice between the Enclave or the Brotherhood of Steel to be honest like in Skyrim where you have a choice with the Storm Cloaks or Imperials and fought a war.

But oh well. Maybe in the next game I guess..... or maybe never.

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head on what's wrong with Fallout 3's main questline. It completely railroads you into siding with the Brotherhood of Steel. And then even if you sided (and I use that term very loosely) with the Enclave (by inserting the FEV virus) Broken Steel completely ruins this by forcing you to get back serving Lyons. With no explanation whatsoever why your character suddenly decided to do a complete 180 from previously believing that eradicating all mutant life in the CW was the solution.

And to add insult to injury, it hand-waves the effects of the MFEV to be completely stupid: everyone gets tummy aches despite the previous ending slide saying that it left the Capital Wasteland a graveyard fit only for the Enclave and those of pure-humanity.

Go figure. I love Fallout 3, but its main questline svcks.
