Enclave Character

Post » Sun Aug 18, 2013 8:26 pm

So I made a new Enclave character and can't figure out who he would follow. I'm thinking either Indy or House because the Legion are savages and the NCR aren't the Enclave, so.. any ideas?

If your character is an ex-Enclave who has an axe to grind with the NCR, then side with the Legion. Revenge :tops:

If you are an Enclave holding out hope that you can rebuild America, then go with Yes Man ending.

The only thing a true Enclave soldier should want is to exact vengeance upon the NCR, they care little for "American" ideals if they aren't actually being practiced by a nation that isn't the United States. The Enclave think everyone is a savage, whether they wear skirts or have robot armies.

So, they hate everyone?

They hold everyone from outside the Enclave in utter contempt as a genetically damaged human-being; hell someone in the Enclave probably doesn't give a [censored] who wins the war, they have no stake in it or the people.

Okay, so my Enclave character is the grandson of one of the soldiers who was at Navarro. His grandfather died, unable to attain his wish of exacting vengeance against the NCR. My character is one that will be torn between carrying out his family's will and heritage by destroying the NCR and following Enclave ideals - or trying to be a generally decent person. Emphasis on character development, and I'm a little stuck on where to head with him at the moment.

Sounds about right, if you really must insist on trying to be a decent person you could probably justify working for House or Indy as a means of hampering the NCR's development without unleashing the Legion on otherwise innocent people.

I'm not certain if you've encountered it before, but there is a quest in New Vegas which features the Enclave:

Spoiler
Arcade Gannon's personal quest involves meeting up with several former Enclave members and enlisting their help in the battle over Hoover dam.
The personalities of those characters could help influence your own.

NCR: They're not America, but they could be considered a worthy heir. They wiped out the Enclave, sure, but in fairness the Enclave would have wiped them out given the chance. Besides, that's all ancient history.

Legion: If you're really holding a grudge against the NCR (people can hold a long-ass grudge; see all the people who claimed the March 2011 earthquake in Japan was "karma" for Pearl Harbour) then the Legion could be the way to go. They're [censored]s, but an Enclave true-believer could be drawn to their totalitarian ways, and would definitely be drawn to Caesar's personal animosity towards the NCR. Not too different from the Khans...

House: House represents the Old World, and might therefore be the person most worthy of inheriting the new one. His advanced technology, lofty dreams of cities in space and interstellar travel, and his plain old charming ways could be appealing to an Enclaver. Though maybe all that technology shouldn't be in the hands of someone who doesn't have to answer to any government...

Independent: ...so maybe you should take it yourself? This path would also be a must for someone who completely buys into the Enclave's beliefs: you could sow chaos by killing every named character, leaving the Mojave a snakepit full of ghost towns and marauding gangs. Take out Caesar and Lanius and the Legion will crumble, kill Kimball and Oliver and the NCR will be plunged into political chaos, and possibly come storming back into the Mojave for revenge.

As for your stats, Energy Weapons and Science seem obvious; maybe Explosives too? It would be a big help in the early game when there's not a lot of decent energy weapons around.

I prefer to drain the NCR's prestige and economy by choosing House. I like to think my character then begins using that acquired wealth to begin bribing NCR officials and otherwise working diplomatic magic via House's political acumen in order to free imprisoned Enclave members and aid those still in hiding.

I'm never really able to get on-board with the Legion as an Enclave character.

You need a high speech skill to get that Arcade's Enclave quest, right?
