Ex-Enclave Companion

Post » Mon Dec 14, 2015 8:09 pm

I thought back to Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Ex Enclave dudes hanging out in plain sight...one in Greyditch the others...well Gannon and his crew.

So I got to thinking....an Ex Enclave soldier hiding out in the Commonwealth...who supports your path to becoming sole dictator of the commonwealth....or whatever....

I'm curious why they never put that in, he'd provide cool mods for X-01, Plasma discounts...and interesting dialogue and perhaps a new X-01 armor.

Don't get me wrong, Danse was cool as hell...but I feel they could have quieted the "we heart enclave crowd" and the "they are dead, deal with it" crowd in one fell swoop.

My idea for his backstory was a survivor of the battles of Raven Rock, the Purifier, and Adams. He hates the Brotherhood, but is in awe by the institute...frankly a companion who is the anti-hero and provides you with a different path over the "hey lets save the world" kinda guy. When you find X-01 parts, he has interesting dialogue regarding it, makes snide comments to the brotherhood, and eventually lets you in on his past, you share a form of kinship to him because of the prewar roots of the organization, and soldiery and whatnot.

Then towards the end he lets you into the enclave's secret stash....hellfire armor, tesla armor, incinerators...enclave combat armor, enclave flag...stuff he's been hording for a rainy day, hiding.

He'd make a second play through totally worth it.

The Enclave should never return as a faction. It's dead.

Nothing prevents their ghosts from haunting the Wasteland. An ex-Enclave companion would be such a ghost.

However, I doubt he'll be anywhere remotely friendly at first. The vetetens in FONV had 40+ years to cope with the Enclave's fall. This guy would have had 10. Enough to take the edge off, but not quite gung-ho about tolerating wasters and other non-Enclave personnel.

What ex-Enclave companion? We better rebuild the whole damn thing! Enough with Minutemen and BoS already!

I was just thinking about that, yet the backstory of 111. An ex soldier from pre-war times could very well take the edge off of him.

Or perhaps the meeting between the two, he's being hunted by brotherhood soldiers and you step in and save him.

Truth be told, pissing in the brotherhood's corn flakes is starting to really appeal to me...when all I hear is "you've done a heck of a job sentinel" every step I take.

I thought it would be cool if we could use some enclave tech to help build our settlements, laser fencing, guard posts, plasma turrets/mortars & gatling lasers etc. Instead of patch work metal or wood.

Meh no thanks. I had my fill of the Enclave in 3 and with Arcade Gannon's uninteresting self.

Danse was the first companion from the Power armored factions done right. Star Paladin Cross and Veronica svcked as companions because their equipment was melee based. For the first time in the 3D universe, there is a Power armored follower who brings his own laser rifle to the show, and doesn't need me to feed him ammo to use it.

An Ex-Enclave follower wouldn't make sense in Fallout 4 unless you were playing for the Institute, and even still, you might as well just have an institute follower (which I think there is one).

It depends what his motive could be.

"The Colonel" could be a grizzled old man in power armor who hates the BOS and will work with anyone who will kill them. He drinks heavily (and approves when you do) and talks about how some asshead in the Capital Wasteland destroyed his entire nation. He also dislikes Synths and robots and gives you a bonus against them because "thinking machines always turn psychotic in the end."

:)

No thanks, they've been destroyed three times, I'm glad Bethesda is at least trying to be more creative with their factions. It would be shame to then smuggle the enclave back in via a companion.
