Enclave in NCR?

Post » Sat Sep 11, 2010 4:55 pm

'NCR under military rule': Don't complete the deal, kill Westin and Carlson.
Shaken by the assassination of Vice-President Carlson, right-wing elements seize control of the Congress and set the New California Republic on the path to military rule. Eventually the survivors of the Enclave find a home in the ranks of NCR.

^That was one of the endings of Fallout 2. Wondering if we'll see Enclave in NV.

To me, that sounds like remnants of the Enclave found a home in another military organization working towards the relatively same goals, the NCR. They do not use the same tactics.

Here are the 4 possible Fallout 2 NCR endings, don't know which one is most fitting for NV, probably 1 or 4. (The NCR ending has two pictures, both showing the flag; for endings 2-3 the flag is in tatters.)

1) 'NCR becomes a major power in the West Coast': Complete the deal between NCR and Vault 15.
Your help with Vault 15 launched the New California Republic's push to civilize its neighbors. Though there were many more obstacles to overcome, the NCR now had a foothold into the northern wastes.

2) 'NCR expansion slowed': Don't complete the deal, don't kill Westin.
The failure of diplomacy at Vault 15 slows the New California's Republic's growth into the north. Embarrassed by the failure, President Tandi is replaced by Roger Westin. When the new government finally returns to Vault 15, they find nothing but a ghost town.

3) 'Carlson rules corruptly': Don't complete the deal, kill Westin but not Carlson.
Already weakened by the failure to annex Vault 15, President Tandi is forced to retire when her own Vice-President Carlson accuses her of complicity in Councilman Westin's death. As the new president, Carlson wastes no time securing his grip on power. Under his rule, expansion slows, as he is more concerned about lining his own pockets than furthering the cause of civilization.

4) 'NCR under military rule': Don't complete the deal, kill Westin and Carlson.
Shaken by the assassination of Vice-President Carlson, right-wing elements seize control of the Congress and set the New California Republic on the path to military rule. Eventually the survivors of the Enclave find a home in the ranks of NCR.

Enclave within NCR ranks sounds plausable but as was already stated the only enclave forces verified is the eyebot. Doesnt look too bright for the enclave to really be in the game considering NCR was (probably still is) at war with the BOS and theres that pesty war with Cesars Legion that the NCR is fighting as well. I dont think the enclave would get involve with a power struggle between two to possibly three strong advisaries.

Personally and I havent followed the wiki that much lately, but I have a feeling the BOS will be around but will be keeping to themselves while NCR and Cesars legion fight it out with the possibility to come across ex enclave soldiers such as the guy in grayditch. I dont think we would see the Enclave as a organized force considering they had their asses kicked on the west coast then Eden had the forces transfered to the east coast where they got their ass kicked yet again. 3 years later I dont expect to see the Enclave in force other than ex soldiers wandering around to the possibility of finding some abandoned bunkers that the Enclave used.

I would say that vast majority if not all of surviving Enclave personnel fled to East, but some scientists could have defected as it would not be the first time Enclave personnel abandon their cause.

Uh that war between NCR and BoS wasn't canon since it was only in cancelled Van Buren.

But it is canon. It was confirmed by the devs that NCR was at war with BOS prior to New Vegas.

TO the best of my knowledge, New Vegas makes that war canon, as well as a lot of other stuff from Van Buren.

I wouldn't believe the Wiki 100%, considering we barely know anything about an Enclave presence in New Vegas, and the game isn't even out yet.

The war is alluded to in NV - the reason why NCR dollars are the weakest currency is that during the war, the Brotherhood attacked the NCR's gold supplies.

I wouldn't mind to see some remnant Enclave within the NCR's ranks, but thats about as far as I would like it to go. Would make for interesting dialogue options.

Wiki can be edited by anyone... And that didn't stop the enclave from coming in in FO3.

Yes, that's why the Cyberpunk Cowboy SMG is still around and a lot of items are listed twice under different names. Don't trust the wiki. Enclave could very well be around in some small capacity. Broken Steel shouldn't be considered canon. The way I like to see things is that the entirety of Broken Steel was just a radiation fueled hallucination as my character lay dying on the floor of Project Purity. Kind of like An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge or how Indiana Jones fans like to think that he actually died of radiation poisoning in the fridge and there were never any aliens.

Aside from a couple of minor problems most of the wiki is trustworthy. I've perused it a bunch of times and haven't found much that was incorrect.
