Do you have Broken Steel? It lets you to play past the ending and adds a few more quests, armor, weapons.

I thought FO3 was like Oblivion where you could just play on even after the MQ?

When the main quest ends, that ends the game unless you have Broken Steel installed and activated. Than you can continue playing as long as you want. If you have the proper mod or use the consol command, you can continue to level-up and add perks. I am currently level 48 about half way to 49.

You will get the main game and all the DLC, which are Broken Steel, Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta. When you install the game, you will come to a screen that will ask if you want a default install or custom. Choose the custom install and direct the installation to a place outside of your program files. If you have a problem with the second disc, boot you computer into safe mode with networking, than install the second disc.

Sorry, I keep forgetting about the people not playing on a PC. With the PC, there are numerous files that add to the game. The official name is models but is shortened to "mods". They are user created to add just about everything to the game from visuals enhancements to more quests.

Buy the Add on Broken Steel for your PS3 game or buy the GOTY addition of PS3 that comes with Broken Steel, Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta. I have GOTY on my PS3 and I can keep playing after the main quest is done and over.

There are two available this one for level 50: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16870
And this one for level 100: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=359 which I haven't tried yet.
I am using the mods because if you use the console command, you have to enter the command each time you start a game and I kept forgetting to do that. I usually didn't remember to enter the command until I killed something and realized I didn't get any XP for the kill.

Awesome! Thanks for the links M48A5 (my ex used to work on M1A1 Abrams tanks :) Did some testing and stuff, too - then he was in charge of a Motor pool for M551 Sheridan Tanks, until they were de-commissioned)

Well is that something... I was in the USMC and a M1A1 Tank Crewman with 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Delta Company... Nothing like 65 tons of pure killing machine going down the road...
Miss my M1A1 :-(
