To end or not to end, that is the question.

Honestly, I voted 'I don't care' but theres a 'but' in my IDC. I don't care about either so long as its implemented right. If Obsidian makes a DLC that still makes your ending functional, then by all means go for it.

No & No.

The endings are too extreme for there to be a Broken Steel-esque DLC like there was for FO3. The endings are the way they are because they define what actually happens after all your work. Broken Steel was just an add-on to milk what they could out of FO3.

And, apart from TLW canonically dying before it was retconned, the future of DC was vague enough to do a fan service DLC, F:NV BS style DLC would just piss off users.

So I guess I'm alone in thinking that the ending was horrible? I ran across a bridge with little trouble and killed about 10 guys at the end of it with a power fist and around 20 unarmed. I didn't even confront Benny and only did the NCR and BoS quests. I was allowed to finish the game with so little done? Sheesh. I saw a few slides of nonsense that never got me excited or felt like I did anything at all. If the game is going to end at least make me do more before it does.

Yes they should have let you continue after the ending and no I can't see them making a DLC to change that. As many people have said they would have to either change the ending or make an expansion of the events after the final "battle".

F3 was no better. Run across bridge behind Micheal Bay in robot form. start purifier, die. Or with BS, go unconcious, destroy earthbound deathstar, fly away, become big hero. And F3s ending slides left something to be desired.

I didn't vote because you can "stuck" in NV as long as you want.

And although I feel a DLC that pass BoHD would be made eventually, I wouldn't like it too much....

I would lose interest in a game with no end...

Yes/Yes

I hope.. I haven't actually completed the story but I hate it when you can't just free roam after completing a main quest

I would personally prefer something that lets us play after the final quest, but I understand the reasons you can't, respect them, and don't think the lack of it detracts from the game overmuch.

Don't care and yes.

There probably will be a DLC that extends post MQ gameplay to make cash, but I honestly don't care since I can just simply avoid the MQ and do whatever I want.

Yes. It's unlike that they will, but seeing how many people are disappointed with their lackluster ending, there is always hope.
But for the sake of the games longevity and over all quality, yeah they really really should -_-

No. Not until they realise that repeating mistakes of the past if a bad thing. (take a good long look at that ending, it's no better than the original FO3 one, canned bits of text and audio, boom, roll credits)
if anything it′s worse, simply because it came after, yet managed to hold such high standards up untill the ending.

I thought there isn't going to be a broken steel type dlc? Wasn't it confirmed?

Wasn't it based on the original? (IE. not based on Fallout 3 as that was not the original).

I've come nowhere near the end of NV, but I had the impression that it's ending was more in line with the original series as FO3 was initially expected to be (where the ending was concerned).

So, I just wanted to congratulate everyone on staying civil so far, I think this might be a record when it comes to discussing this topic.

I will say that the results are a lot closer than I expected. After about 40 hours, the current results are:

Should Fallout: New Vegas have allowed for never-ending gameplay?
Yes - 47 votes (38.21%)
No - 54 votes (43.90%)
Don't Care/Undecided - 22 votes (17.89%)

Do you think that DLC that allows post-ending gameplay (like Broken Steel did) will be released in the future?
Yes - 34 votes (27.64%)
No - 78 votes (63.41%)
Don't Care/Undecided - 11 votes (8.94%)

Happy New Year!
Continue voting/discussing

Sure, it would be cool to play past the main quest and see the sum of your handiwork throughout the game, but it would take years to develop such an awesomely huge expansion considering the nuances and consequences of every decision the player has made. If they rushed out a BS style expansion just to placate the folks who want infinite play past the main quest, it would surely svck.

Most video games that I have played have and ending and then the game ends. If it's a great game, then I wait for a sequel.

What I am most hoping for right now is a Point Lookout style expansion that I don't have to complete in one shot and can return to whenever I want.

I can go along with this. I voted "no" but did so with the belief that nothing would be done to preserve the ending (s).

Even with FO3 and it's one ending main quest, playing after the end game is a bit broken if you choose to poison Project Purity.
The muties remain ever present and intact.

Yeah, if you choose to rush the game and ignore sideshows than you dont get the satisfaction of a full and enriched ending.

Do the No's have it? Let's see if we can get more voters and find out!

Once again, :flamethrower: is unacceptable. I'm glad we've been able to avoid it so far.

For me the game ends when the main quest ends. I never even played any of the new sidequests in Broken Steel. Still, my problem with BS is that it broke the game balance, not that it opened up the ending. And as the first DLC increases the level cap (:swear:) it's not that big leap of imagination that a DLC that opens the ending comes along too, despite earlier promises.

I don't want a "continue" DLC because there will be a limited number of DLCs and I'd rather see the effort go into something better.

I don't want to play past the end because being a demi-god who can wipe out cities with a butter knife doesn't appeal to me.

I want to play forever but I enjoy having the slides at the end that summarize my character's new vegas experience. Tough to have both.

My 2 cents have been deposited. Let the circular discussion continue :).

No. And No.

Games end. I think people need to learn to deal with that.

I really, really, really, really, really, REALLY hope that they do NOT release DLC that allows us to continue playing after defeating the "final boss".
